Must be this one, perhaps, and that is because it is a laptop computer, but a patch is coming out. I guess it will be out, about the time I can pick up the game from a store here in the U.S.

    >>Try in Properties -> Target of game icon or desktop icon:

    "C:\Program Files\UFO Aftermath\UFO.exe" --option fullscreen=FALSE

Oh besure to turn off 32 bit colors and shadows on the config screen
    this frees up memory also.

Happy to hear that you got it working SiS650.

    Crashed in tatical missions!

There is no solid date on the patch, but from what i have picked up, it can hopefully be expected next week.<<

The company got one of those computers and tried it and got it working, but it will come out in the patch, along with some other things.

    • I also ended up at Best BS store, and told the wrong memory to get for my computer.

      Newer video card??
I don't know yet, but glad that I waited to check things out.

      Burp Buy store!

      • Weehee! Tis a fun game!

I will probably restart the game though so I can do things better. Just remember to heal your people before a mission ends if you plan on doing a subsequent mission. I ended up with an almost dead person who used up all my medikits, only to find he was also unarmed as a result. So much for the heavy firepower he was providing. Medikits seem to be really valuable in this game.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

        • Oh, you people. I still have to wait to buy it at a store soon though!

Yesterday I did 3 Missions without returning to base.. Well lets just say I'm happy I had those 'Nades with me.

            • I hate you all, with your supported graphics cards. I hope you're happy.

              • EB ought to have it out soon!
I am getting on the low end with my video card.
                GeForce 4 perhaps!
I look but, my computer is not all that good either.
Oh, well, I have one that will work anyway, with the graphics.

When I get good enough to be fluent with the game, then it will probably be time for a newer computer anyway. (couple years!)

                • If copy protection is going to take over this thread perhaps we need another to actually talk about UFO Aftermath?

Personally I think it is excellent so far, even if it does look like I'm shaping up to get my ass kicked unless the alien base attacks calm down.

My only caveat is that anyone who designs games with squad movement should either design some intelligent routefinding or make sure that there are very few bottlenecks. It drives me to distraction when I order my squad to advance up the corridor and two guys pronounce the route blocked and two others want to go the long way round.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

                    Yes, thanks.

Brain: Yeah, know that feeling. I ended up in one mission grabbing a pistol off one of the dead aliens just so I could shoot at the still living ones. But now I just send them with a massive load of ammo and accept that they will run slowly.

Grumbold: The first person you order to move will take precedence over the route they choose. The second person will only be able to use the area the first walks in if there is a few seconds gap either before or after the first is planning on using that particular tile. Just get your remaining soldiers to move to just before the bottle-neck and then shuffle them through as you can.

Nah, we've returned to Aftermath, for those who can actually play it anyway.

                        • @Skanky: Run slowly? arround lvl 10-12 those guys & the yellow armor those guys can carry ALOT ;=) This is also the point where Speed gets more important than say Dodging Skill ;=)

Whats your general level Up strategy?
I have one Guy (named Tank) who had pretty good Strength and rocket skills so I obvioulsy made him well a Tank ;=)

But the others I leveled up on another Concept.

well, i obviously havn't got the hang of going round along. eg in my base-defence missions (when everyone starts somewhere else) i usually get whacked really bad if one of mine meets a reticulan before he's with the group.

my only functioning strategy until now in other missions is stand together not too close, and fire fire fire... no time to walk around too much. it just starts sucking real bad when one of those alien launchers starts apearing...

anyhow, what combination of 'heavies'/ sniper rifles/ handguns/ psi do you guys use at around 30 bases?

and which are you favorite weapons? most are either too weak, too slow (rps), too short ranged or just too heavy

                            • Geez...........the developers have responded to say there is no quick fix to the textures problem experienced by 3d prophet 4500 users. It's not even going to make the next patch.

                              • Thats a tad harsh for you, Spike.
Time to invest in a new graphics card?

I'm still at the lower end of the scale, with 7 bases (although I'm set to get at least another 4 when my chopper actually reaches them. (Slothful bastard)). But I generally have all my guys with rifles. Range rules, currently.

They just sit near each other for support, firing at the nearest target. Fast aliens that run up to my soldiers get "burst fire" into them, but for the most part the dangerous ones (that shoot at you) stay far back and snipe your people, so sniping them back with more people works well so far. I have just moved onto lasers, and they are really nice. Even a 3 plasma-armed aliens didn't survive against my 3 laser rifle guys. The inevitable injuries are treated with the medikit each carries around.

My soldiers are around level 4/5 at the moment, so you guys should be teaching me stuff.
