Larry Johnson to Kansas City. Smart move - you can't be sure if Priest Holmes is gonna hold up. I can't believe he dropped this far, though...

He's a Penn St. RB, that's why. They habitually fail.

I didn't know Holmes was that badly injured.

Then again, I'm SURE every team is wary of Penn State RBs .

Holmes is damned decent. Injuries on occasion, but hey...

            I'm telling you, if I'm a Bears fan, I'm pissed .

I could have had Leftwich, and then early 2nd round pick either Kelsay, Peterson, or Redding as a DE... and instead I get Grossman and Haynes? Damn .

Who's this cornerback they drafted? He's out of La-Lafeyette

                A big "knockyourdickinthedirt" CB.

Bengals, they might accidently do ok.

Yeah, the Bengals have had a GREAT draft so far! Stienbach and Washington are good players.

Btw, Detroit has quietly been having a great draft so far as well. The STEAL of the draft in Boss Bailey, and just got Cory Redding (a great pick).

Tampa's first pick: clearly a depth pick, and me like it.

                    Dewayne White
                    DE | (6-2, 273, 4.74) | LOUISVILLE

Notes: Fourth-year junior who probably needed another year to reach his full potential but came out before his senior season. High school running back and linebacker who rushed for 1,805 yards and 29 touchdowns and had 120 tackles on defense. Also was a three-time all-state basketball player in Alabama. Had he not hurt his knee in high school, he probably would have attended Alabama or Auburn. Redshirted at Louisville in 1999. Freshman All-American in 2000, when he had 52 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, one interception and five passes broken up. Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and a Pro Football Weekly first-team All-American in '01, despite playing much of the year with a broken hand. Registered 86-23-15-0-4. First-team All-Conference USA in '02, when he added to his school career sack record (37½) with 10½ sacks despite playing with a high ankle sprain. White also had 57 tackles and 15½ tackles for loss. He also blocked one kick and recovered a fumble.

Positives: A superactive, quick, sudden, explosive and disruptive player. Has some Bruce Smith-like qualities. The more he plays, the better he will get. Productive, warrior-type who is willing to play hurt. Good changing directions. Starting to put forth more effort and prepare toward end of the season and clearly took his workout at the Scouting Combine seriously.

Negatives: Still learning the position. Is not as big as teams would like in terms of height. Stands up against the run. Looked sluggish and even heavy at times in '02. Doesn't always recognize and anticipate. Seems to lose focus easily.
In other words, a deceptively-fast warrior who's worthy of the red and pewter. (Gruden will take care of the focus issues no problem.)

What Peter King of Sports Illustrated has to say on the McGahee pick by Buffalo (backing what I said earlier)

I think Buffalo's pick of Willis McGahee, unless there's something I really don't know, is the first decision made by the Tom Donahoe/Gregg Williams regime that I absolutely disagree with. The Bills need a pass-rusher. Badly. They have one of the top six or seven backs in football, Travis Henry. They acquired an excellent relief pitcher in Olandis Gary earlier this week. This is their position of lowest need. What in the world are the Bills doing?

The third round, and the day ends with Tampa Bay taking Chris Simms. I'm sure he was happy to sneak into the third round

And they ended up with Chris Kelsay, who is garbage. Not a good day for the Bills.

Well, now... this is interesting. I honestly have no idea how Chris Simms fits into our plans (though, at the very least, maybe I'll get a little less grief from my Giants-fan dad since the son of the great New Yorker Phil is wearing red and pewter). I'm curious to see what the critics have to say about this one...

Hmm... Brad, Shane Matthews, Jim Miller, Shaun King, now Simms... there's probably one or two others down in Europe, so that's about right
