Big L... Big Pun... Biggie (notice a pattern?)... 2pac... Eazy E... Yaki Kadafi... Stretch... rappers die too often. waste of talent.

(soon we'll add Prodigy of Mobb Deep up on that list... the man is almost 30 and got sickle cell. thats some amazing **** surviving that long but he's obviously not going to last too much longer)

For all you dance fans, madonna's new album has tracks on mtv.com, and I'm listening to them right now. Not bad, so far, but not quite as revolutionary as her previous work.

May I advertise some instrumental guitar rock I recorded with a buddy? He wrote the music and played guitar and bass. I was drummer, programmer and producer.

The guy is a real guitar genius who just graduated from Berklee in Boston.

Apparently so! Still I did that a minute ago, I'll just mention CDs intead this time.

Bought during the last month or so (holiday in Sweden) with star ratings and comments:

Cool James - The African Milennium *** (occasionally brilliant african hip-hop, a bit too world-musicy sometimes and not very consistent)

Bill Withers - Lovely Day: The Best Of... *** (great singer, too much late-70s fluff. I need that live album.)

Pugh Rogerfeldt - "Ja Dä Ä Dä" ** (Swedish rare-groove psych classic, not really my kind of thing)

Imperiet - Imperiet ** (the record classic swedish band imperiet recorded in English... embarassing lyrics, crap 1986 production, but still classic songs)

Various - Kvart-i-Två-Dansen **** (brilliant collection if astoundingly, embarassingly bad 70s swedish pop- so bad it's good, etc)

Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska ***** (truly awesome, best album of the eighties I think)

Various - Who Will Buy (These Wonderful Evils) *** (good compilation of undergroundish swedish music with a bonus CD of swedish 60s material, quite enjoyable)

Various - Soca Gold 2000 *** (nice to see how quickly this genre is evolving, the 2002 one I've got at home is well different, but both are good)

Various - D'Soca Zone 3rd Wave *** (the most recent VP Soca comp, a fall release with more undergroundy material- well worth the purchase)

Angie Stone - Mahogany Soul *** (It's not struck me yet, but sounds quite nice, I just bought this yesterday)
Världsstad - Dom lokala genrenas vän
                              Mick102, 102,3 Umeå, Måndagar 20-21
