            Minority?

Classical music is one of the most popular music forms in the world today. Mozart will still be getting live performances once Britney has been long, long forgotten by history.

Calc, try Bruckner's 8th symphony, 3rd movement. Gorgeous.

                    Minority?

Come on . You seriously cannot say that classical is the majority music in the world today.

There is no majority music, as no single genre enjoys majority popularity, and classical is as popular as many of the "popular" genres (I will happily quote you sales figures for classical recordings and classical concerts/opera performances ticket sales).

I'm sure that 'pop' music outsells classical, Boris .

There is no single "pop" genre, and it certainly doesn't make up a majority of music sales.

Besides, classical has longevity. We got music by guys who died 400 years ago. "Pop" forgets those who came five minutes ago!

What do you mean there is no single 'pop' genre? What do the Billboard Pop Charts mean then? It may not make up a majority, but it is beating classical.

Hmmm, I think that Hip-Hop and Country probably beat out Classical in the US market (at least). Techno and Dance probably beat out classical in Europe as well.

Classical may have longevity... but Elvis and the Beatles will be known in 400 years too.
