So we're just supposed to allow Saddam to escape? We're just supposed to allow Syria to hide the WMD's we fought a war to destroy? We're supposed to allow Syria to get away with thumbing its nose at us? Hell no.
If Syria is really doing this (and that's a big if at this point), then we have to go after them. We have to achieve the goal we have already risked so much for.

The Arabs are already pissed off. I don't think a war with Syria (if justified) will do much more damage. We'd also take care of one of Hezbollah's major supporters, which would ultimately help the war on terror.KH FOR OWNER!

but drake there is a difference between feeling threatened and being threatened. if you see americans invading your land it will cause people to rise up who previously only had a distaste for america.
as for syria doing all those things, i dont think the admin really cares. the admin will do what it does in the name of national secuirity whether thats the real case or not."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

Besides, you can never stop other countries from making chemical weapons if they want to do so. If a cult can make sarin, you bet a country will be able to.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

From what I can tell, this is largely a (media-hyped) bluff by Bush to try to pressure Syria into stopping certain actions by Syria (in particular, granting safety to former Iraqi leaders, probably - also maybe to get them from trying to sabotage any attempts to build a stable government in Iraq). It's a bluff Syra can't afford to call, and it's one that only has temporary credibility (due to the timing after the war - a year from now, this bluff would have less chance at succeeding (which is why this bluff is only good at stopping near term actions by Syria. I seriously doubt this bluff will stop Syria from continuing to support and harbor terrorism over the long term...)
C. This discovery relates to the aid rendered Syria by France. DEBKAfile’s exclusive intelligence and military sources reveal that, from Monday night, April 14, groups of Iraqi military and scientific leaders have been transferred from Syria to France. This came about as a result of President Chirac consenting to help Assad live up to his commitments to Saddam Hussein and keep their forbidden weapons out of sight and their existence denied. Is it April 1st again, so soon?
