HEY CAESAR! You gonna wait till Sunday to edit your line up to include some starting pitchers or live dangerously the rest of the season?

Btw, Nen was just placed on the DL for 15 days. Looks like his shoulder surgery from last fall is causing some problems. Might think about looking for a new closer too...

I'd like to see how wakefield and graves do this week before i put them in..... and contreras with his 10.8 ERA is staying off, for now....

lets hope nen only stays on the dl for 15 days

Caesar - Hmm...a team without starting pitchers, will wonders never cease in fantasy baseball, and 8 bench spots to boot. So that's why you were the only one to complain when Imran expanded the statistical categories, you were loading up on hitters and closers while the rest of us were operating under the impression we had to actually have active starting pitchers. I guess the original categories Imran picked gave you an even bigger advantage just having 3 closers.

Everyone applaud Caesar on his ability to manipulate the statistical categories to get 2 advantages over the rest of us. He must want to win very badly...because if he wins, badly is how he went about it.

Bezerker just alerted me to something. A person could use one ace to win the catagories of ERA, WHIP, K/BB and leave the rest empty.

So, I'm gonna add a MINIMUM innings pitched for your staff of 15 (That is less than 4 SPs having 4 innings per start). That will prevent someone from doing this. This will apply starting next week.

so what are my chances that percival and wagner can pitch 15 innings this week.....

                there goes my strategy

anyway, i was forced into it b/c my 2nd, 3rd and 4th picks were auto-picked and i was away so i couldn't get the pitchers i wanted - so i decided to try something more risky, thanks a lot berz!

actually my plan was to win; loses, saves, k/bb and whip and then as many hitting catagories as possible

and you will also notice that all my starters are/were relievers - so i was hoping to phase some of them in on weeks they had easy opponents (which if i had gotten back from math team states soon enough would have been wakefield + contreras)

i wasn't planning on using this strategy but my 2nd, 3rd and 4th picks (and almost my 6th pick) were all outfielders - by then both starting pichters i really wanted were taken (guess its my fault for not giving imran a list sooner)

i'm almost gaurenteed to lose week 1 and unless i can get another decent starting pitcher getting up to 15 innings after that is not going to be easy - so i might end up getting rid of my pitchers and going pure hitting

winning isn't everything, coming up with the idea is the good part

Hehe, just trying to be fair. The rest of us were under the impression starting pitchers actually playing was required, lol. I didn't see much risk in your strategy, the top closers have awesome stats that equal or surpass even the best starters in 4 of the 7 categories so you effectively had 3 Randy Johnsons doing all your pitching, quite smart...and quite devious. The only risk was severly blown saves, but obviously that was a risk well worth taking.

Btw Imran, on the issue of daily roster changes, having extra pitchers on the bench and swapping them in and out of the line up to increase pitching appearances would only help wins and K's, and possibly saves, but it would hurt in 4 other categories. If I had 2 top starters and 2 above average starters, swapping them in and out with average or mediocre pitchers to increase innings pitched would also make the overall stats worse. Whip, era, k/bb, and losses would all get damaged by the less effective pitchers. But weekly roster changes won't kill us, even if someone loses a Derek Jeter to an injury on a Monday.

...i liked it better when people thought i had no idea what i was doing...

weekly roster changes doesn't bother me too much, but it does give an advantage to us who have nothing better to do all day than edit their fantasy teams... but the decision is imrans to make

You mean week 2? Imran won't make the change until next week so your plan will work this week (even without Nen)
If you want, I'll trade you Greg Maddux (my best starter) for M Ordonez. That'll hurt my pitching, but I could use the power and you could use the pitching.

i'm getting a bad vibe from the braves this year.... i figure if 3 closers can give me 4 or 5 innings each week, i'll only need another 10 but like i said before i might end up giving up all my pitching and just go purely for hitting

i'd like to see how some of these guys do first.... who knows wakefield could pitch a perfect game! and contreras has 3k's before that homer last night... he might be able to give me an inning or two each week

if i can make the minimum for week 2 i'll probably continue pitching otherwise i've got 3 really solid closers i'd be willing to trade

I figure Contreras for 3-4 innings a week so 10 from 2 starters should do it. I wanted Imran to add a couple pitching categories like IP to offset your strategy, or at least a minimum of 16 innings which he originally suggested.

if i don't make the minimum 15 innings pitched, does the other person automatically get 7 points or is it just impossible for me to get points from pitching?
