Plan For Christianizing The "Enemy"

Two leading evangelical Christian missionary organizations said Tuesday that they have teams of workers poised to enter Iraq to address the physical and spiritual needs of a large Muslim population.

The Southern Baptist Convention, the country's largest Protestant denomination, and the Rev. Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse said workers are near the Iraq border in Jordan and are ready to go in as soon as it is safe. The relief and missionary work is certain to be closely watched because both Graham and the Southern Baptist Convention have been at the heart of controversial evangelical denunciations of Islam, the world's second largest religion.

"Iraqi dissidents and Arab media have claimed that Saddam Hussein has opened a training camp for Arab volunteers willing to carry out suicide bombings against U.S. forces in Iraq. And last month, terror mastermind Osama bin Laden urged Iraqis in an audio tape aired on Arabic television to employ the tactic against the Americans. Other Arab militants also spoke about suicide missions against the invading armies.

Such suicide attacks are common by Palestinian militants in targeting the better equipped Israeli army during the uprising on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri was asked in a mid-March television interview, whether Iraq would use the tactic of suicide attacks against the invading American forces.

"We have prepared ourselves for all kinds of war. For many months, tens of thousands have volunteered to serve as martyrdom-seekers (suicide attackers) in the battle with the American enemy," he said. "We trained them and readied them. We have prepared ourselves for street fighting and desert fighting."

"She wrote that she didn't like Saddam in here schoolbook. She was arrested and tortured for 11 months. She was sentenced to three years in prison. Many of here immediate relatives were also arrested and sentenced to terms of six months to a year."

Saddam appears on television, chairing meeting

BAGHDAD, March 29 (Reuters) - Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was shown on Iraqi state television on Saturday chairing a meeting of his ministers and senior aides.

The television announcer said the footage was shot on Saturday but there was no way to verify that independently.

Saddam has appeared several times on television, twice to address the nation, since the United States tried to kill him in a cruise missile strike on Baghdad on March 20 at the start of their war to disarm Iraq.

Turkey insists on plans to send soldiers to northern Iraq
