"In another incident there were troops dressed in civilian clothes that appeared to welcome the forces and then ambush them," he said. "So there are a number of incidents occurring to the rear of the main combat forces."

21.00 GMT+1 Dead bodies with American-looking faces and uniforms shown on Swedish TV news. Nasty & bloody.

Not shown in USA according to Swedish reporter in Washington.

Footage of soldiers and civilians looking for downed pilots hiding in the river banks of Tigris shooting wildly into the water with AK47s. (Perhaps in pursuit of the 25 million Dinars award for delivering a dead pilot to the authorities? Or 100 millions for a live pilot.)

Yep. I dont think there is a single American network who showed pics of the bodies or the interviews with the POWs.

No, nothing shown, but we're painfully aware of it. CNN is going to Fort Bliss, Texas, later.

France2 is showing the images, really disgusting journalism

Gatekeeper, what is "Fort Bliss, Texas"?

EDIT: CNN showing the interview of American's PoW. Why the Pentagon is saying that it is against Geneve Agreement?

Fort Bliss and Fort Hood are the two large Army bases in Texas that host the Army's Third Infantry Division and a number of other units.

Why the Pentagon is saying that it is against Geneve Agreement
because the geneva convention "indicates" it, according to rumsfeld.

it's not like we haven't seen iraqi pows on TV...
I guess it's the interview part that's in violation

No good reason to show bodies.
It's rude to their family and the soldier's memory.

I saw Lancer had a thread closed.
I didn't read it because if it's closed, I imagined it was fairly controversial.

                      Let me say this.

We cannot turn this into an Arab thing comparable to Japanese internment in WW II.

However, a background check of potential military members isn't out of line.
                      ALL potential military members.

Other than that, I feel very badly for the 101st.

                        Thanks guys
you're right Gangerolf, the part of the interview could be considered a "violation" of the Geneva convention. Well, maybe we're not going to see more iraqi surrenders on CNN anymore.

sorry for the semi thread jack..

Not a good day for us here in El Paso. The Patriot unit that took down the British Tornado was probably based out of here (Ft. Bliss is the home of most Patriot Batteries) and we know the 507th also came from Bliss. War is hell.

Donald Rumsfeld, the American Secretary of State to Defense, quickly condemned these images as being a violation of the Convention of Geneva.
The CICR confirmed, but stressed also that it was also the case of those diffused Saturday by American televisions, which showed Iraqi prisoners.

Suspected Missile Falls in Eastern Turkey
Around 5.30 p.m. (10:30 a.m. EST) an object suspected of being a missile fell from a plane on to an empty area one kilometer from Ozveren village. Military officials are investigating," he told Reuters.
There were no reports of any injuries. Reports said it made a hole roughly four meters (yards) wide and one meter deep.

21.13 GMT+1 British soldiers found a huge weapons storage in souther Iraq close to Basra. Anti-ship cruise missiles, warheads, huge ship mines, rockets, you name it! Some crates ironically had names of British corporations printed on them. The Brits were stunned by the technical capability of the Iraqi forces. However the defenders of this hideout surrenderd after only a short firefight. Source: TT
