AFAIK, most Marine arty is towed, and so it takes longer to set up than Army arty does. I would expect that until they secure Umm Qasr, that at least that battery would be positioned where it could reach any strong points within the port. The main body of Marines probably isn't that far ahead - they want to keep cohesion, so they will be securing the overall area, rather than stringing out.Originally posted by Drake Tungsten
