The Jews weren´t hit by WW2.
They were hit by Hitlers racist Ideals and his building of Concentration camps.

It was the war which rescued them from their captivity and the impending death.
Hadn´t there been WW2 (and Hitler and the Nationalsocialists had been ruling germany 5-10 years longer) we wouldn´t have many surviving jews here in germany (and probably europe).

So I think that the WW2 is being seen mostly beneficial by those jews who survived the third reich.

I still mentioned the South in the U.S. civil war. The south was hit hard by the war, especially with Sherman's march.

Yet the South was an is very pro-war.

I just don't believe that argument for the reason germany is the way that it is.

but what I know is that there were large demonstrations within germany in the 80s against the Pershing 2 and the Principle of MAD.

Also I know that people like Ernesto Che Guevara and Fidel Castro have been the great heroes of the students within the 60s and 70s here in Germany

The US lost 600.000 people in the civil war, I think 100.000 in WWI and 300-400.000 in WWII.

Germany lost 8 million in WWII, 4 milion of them civilians. France lost 2 million in WWI. A much more devastating, and more recent experience. Even still, the French are hardly pacifist; the french left was after WWI, no longer after WWII.

Yes, but this war has been how long ago?

It is 140 years or the like. And people tend to forget after a while, especially if the generation which can tell of those things firsthand dies out.

Also I believe that the impact on the civilians wasn´t as large in the american civil war as it has been in WW2.
There were no Bomberfleets which within minutes bombed large cities into dust and AFAIK the cities themselves haven´t been misused as a battleground to such an extent as in WW2.
