    • 19:00 GMT+1 After a long debate, the Danish parliament declares war on Iraq. A suggestion to send paratroopers is turned down, and as a compromise they decide to send a submarine and a small surface ship. Only a symbolic gesture...

To help USA defeat the overwhelming Iraqi navy, I suppose? I wonder if my Danish friends will even be ready to leave their home port (150 km from where I am) before it's over.

      • 21.15 GMT +1 A Swedish military intelligence officer in Swedish primetime TV news, commenting Al-Jazeera broadcasts from Bagdad: This camera is really close to the action, just a few blocks away. Western media is too far away to really see what's going on. You clearly see that the Presidental Palace is hit by missile after missile. The precision is impressing, but with such heavy warheads civilian buildings nearby are also damaged. Civilian casualties are very likely.

          • CNN is reporting right now that not a SINGLE refugee has left Iraq for Jordan. It seems the people are welcoming American troops and their homes are not being destroyed in the fighting.

Swedish radio news reported at 16.45 GMT+1 that Jordan is not letting them in but asking them to go back home. This is however unconfirmed.
