--"Why would it not be the US?"

Mostly the level of tech involved. US agencies like the true cutting-edge sexy tech. Sticking a couple taps on the phone line isn't nearly as sexy as hitting the office with a laser microphone from five miles away or tapping the fiber running into the building.

Not to mention, how would they find someone to go on such a daring mission, possibly confronting Eurocrats?

Well, maybe if they asked the Mossad....
“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

Did you note that they had been there almost 10 years. I would call it pretty state-of-the-art to keep them hidden that long.

Mainly because laser mikes don't work very well. The best way to accomplish it is to send a gift, maybe a crystal pillar or something, that has been precisely measured and the mikes tuned to it. Besides that, laser mikes are easy to defeat.

Passive bugs, or ones that are remotely activated, are very hard to detect.

I just wander what would have happened if you find the Senate being bugged?

I'd be quite surprised if the NSA weren't sniffing on Senate communications too.

Aren't they supposed to know what is going on?

If you are the security... well they should be able to trust you...

                  or should they?

                    I didn't say anyone knew.

I said that several sources I read (non-israeli) reported that Israeli mossad may have tracked several al-qaeda members and may have had some idea about such intentions - which they passed on to the CIA , as the source said.

The problem Siro is that it seems your intellifgence services were more riddled with soviet spies than the US's,

One. We had one major soviet spy.

You had 400. (according to something i read recently)

and thw POllard case was very damaging.

i agree. he was a major jerk in general, and he should sit his time.

look, just because you're our best friends, doesn't mean we don't want to know what you are doing, that might not always suit our interests.

Besides, with all the free info and money we give Israel, whats the deal? Ha Man?

money is not the same as info.

and we give you lots of info too. plus tactical and strategic advice in anti-terror and urban combat/

Haha, great! I expect a new John le Carré novel coming out any day now
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
                      Once again...
