Well, we're going to war, so POST AWESOME MILITARY PICS
The helis above remind me of this picture that I ripped from the long gone "funny pictures thread" here on ACS. Some other Apolytoner should have credit for it, but I can't remember who.

Everybody else but the Americans (who were the major force for the adoption of 7.62 for their great rifle the M14) stayed with with 7.62 until at least the early 80's. The Brits the canadians and the Belgies used the FN(when did the brits change).
There is also a 7.62 precursor to the M16 that was also a fine rifle (cant remember the name).

You're right, a bomb kills a much more cleaner way. Gatlings just dispatch blood everywhere, and it is really messy. At least, bombs only produce cool explosions to watch on CNN, you don't get to watch the corpse.

The US Navy still uses them for shipboard defense, and they're damn good rifles all around.
The M14 is a very good rifle, its a mystery why the M16 was adopted.
I think the rifle I'm thinking of was the M10? It looked like an M16 on steroids. Wood stock, 7.62NATO and about 10lbs. I had the oppurtunity to buy 2 in 1979 but didnt. They're probably worth a great deal now.

apparently you fail to grasp the purpose of a CIWS
What is a CIWS ?
Yes, I am a whiny little ****. People are going to die today, and you are looking this with excitement as a good entertainement show. I feel I have to remind what war is about. It is about death and suffering.
Maybe the people who criticized Sept. 11 explosions were whiny little ****s too ?
