  • You think so? That's disgusting.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Yes. There's a difference between sending a team of 4 operators to make sure the building is empty under cover of a tank and transported there in an APC and sending 60 soldiers to stand in open ground to block off protestors. There's a limit to how far an army can risk it's soldiers in order to warn off suicidal idiots.

No matter who you are or where it happens - it takes utter idiocy to stand infront of a bulldozer. And in the harsh reality of this world, be it in New York or Ramallah - you pay for it.

      Azazel: Thanks, mate.

      • Responsibility when operationg heavy machinery still rests on the operator or overseer no matter how stupid you may feel the victim is. 60 troops is not necessary, simply a second armoured vehicle positioned so it can survey the scene.

Give it up, we can assume the bulldozer guy or the commander knew there were protesters in the area (brightly coloured jackets and megaphones) and could foresee that they would do something like this.

P.S. whatever people say, the girl died for something she believed in.

You put one buldozer on the left and one buldozer on the right. If the protester is in the right you use the first buldozer, if no, you use the second buldozer.

            Really wise. Yeh?

              1. If a person commits suicide - is it the government's fault? She was doing something stupid and she was ware she was doing something illegal. You cannot predict every step of a lunatic.

              2. Armoured vehicles cannot block the way of a person, are you aware of that?

They are huge chunks of armour, they cannot hermetically seal off an area - remember that they cannot be too near the bulldozer itself. Even 20 APC's and tanks cannot block off an open field (as it was behind the bulldozer).

              3. She believed in the terrorists' rights to live in peace? Just as good as praising Jodl and Keitel - they too died for what they believed in.

              • GAZA STRIP British peace activist wounded, declared brain-dead at hospital

GAZA CITY -- A 21-year-old British peace activist was critically wounded Friday as he tried to get two children out of the line of fire in the Gaza Strip, witnesses said.
Thomas Hurndall suffered a head injury and was declared brain dead after arriving at Rafah Hospital, said Ali Musa, a doctor there.
Witnesses said Israeli troops firing from a tank struck Hurndall as he other activists in a pro-Palestinian group approached an army position on the edge of a Gaza refugee camp.
The Israeli army had no comment about Friday's shooting but said it would investigate.
Hurndall of Manchester, England, was the second activist wounded in a week. A third member of the group, the International Solidarity Movement, was killed a month ago while trying to stop an Israeli army bulldozer.

                  • 1. She didn't commit suicide. She fell while standing in front of the bulldozer. Are you saying that if a group of people laid down in front of a bulldozer they'd be committing suicide because the IDF couldn't afford to make sure someone could see whether it was rolling over somebody?

                    2. No but they can get into a vantage point where they could verify that the bulldozer isn't rolling over anyone.

                    3. Eh? What terrorist? Is this assuming the house was owned by a terrorist? Then arrest the terrorist, no reason his family should suffer or housing for another family should be destroyed.

Laying down in front of heavy machinery carries with it some risk. That doesn't excuse running over the person again though.

Destroying the houses of innocent people in revenge for the actions of their relatives qualifies as terrorism. She was trying to stop that.
