    No! Up again at 7am, took the dogs down to the park for their walk, made my morning latte, returned to work. Finished at 6pm this evening!

    Tamerlin clearly works differently to myself ? do you ever sleep?
    Tamerlin's hours are the eighth - or ninth, or one more than however many there are these days - wonder of the world.

      Fingers crossed that you both get a decent rest soon.

      As this weekend is a rest weekend from the six nations at leats Tamerlin's blood pressure should improve.

        Tamerlin's blood pressure will have to settle watching Toulouse if they play this weekend. I am not sure it will relieve him much...

            I'll actually be able to watch a live Super 12 match tomorrow as I am planning on calling in sick and it's on at 12 noon. Hurricanes v Sharks.

            Brumbies v Stormers is on tonight (tomorrow?) at 3:30am, so I'll be taping that one...

            I wonder what the criteria is for choosing games to show on FSW? They only show 2 out of 5 games that are played each weekend. Obviously they will choose games between the best teams, but what made them choose Hurricanes v Sharks over Highlanders v Cats?

              What for?

              I am clearly doing my best to avoid any "activity" that do not represent any interest, activities such like working or sleeping...

                You are right, Toulouse is playing away at Biarritz this week-end and I won't be able to see the game as I am going to a place where there is no access to the private channel broadcasting the game...

                The problem, and it is very worrying indeed, is that since a few weeks the fumbles commited by the French players are the same as those that can be seen every week in the French championship itself... and the Stade Toulousain does not seem to be at the best of its shape. On the other hand the Biarritz Olympique has not been very convincing this year and I am not sure Yachvili can really be considered as an asset for his club.

                  Preview of Eastside-McMinnville

                  We're scheduled for a 2:30 PT start on Saturday and we'll play rain or shine as we are playing on the club owned field. so the city can't cancel this time McMinnville is a new team in our league this year, but they're a large and talented team with upwards of 30 players. They beat a combined Tualatin Valley team at a tournament earlier this year by a stomping, something like 39-5. I'm on the Starting XV at openside flanker, and I'm a little worried about the game. Some of the guys on the forward pack was kind of taking things lightly at practice today, just dicking around.

                  Hopefully they'll get their heads together by Saturday, otherwise it could be a long day for us loosies and the team in general. If we ruck well and follow the basics though, things could go our way, because we have a lot of athletic people on our team (lots of wrestlers and football players). I'll give you a post-game on Saturday when we've finished.

                    Could depend on the purchased broadcast rights, could depend on the available time slots. FoxSports here shows every match. I've watched three back-to-back.

                      Best of luck! I have only one piece of advice - "Take no prisoners!".

                      You could, of course, adopt any of the following national team tactics:

                      England - Establish a lead, kid your supporters you're the goods, then fall in the nearest gaping hole;
                      Australia - Argue like buggery prior to the match that you're the underdog in case you lose;
                      South Africa - Punch and kick anything in an opposition jersey;
                      New Zealand - Catch a dose of food poisoning 10 seconds before kick off;
                      France - Just do the best you can to disappoint Tamerlin and LDiCesares.

                        Bearcat, good luck. You say there are about 30 of them. How many players are in your team? I guess more means you have more chances to get the right person at the right place. I know I'll be playing a match next tuesday against a team of many players and, since it is no championshio, everyone plays, which means we'll probably face one team on first half and another on second half. That's usually bearable if the second team is weaker than the first. Otherwise, well...
                        As for sticking to the basics, every team tries to do that, and most invariably fail. But that's part of the fun.

                          I am not sure it will relieve him much...
                          I know how he feels. We have an away game with Newcastle on Sunday. They are not exactly my favourite club side.

                          But Tamerlin – it really is scary the times you post at.

                          Is somebody keeping track of how much of my non-existent gold I’ve wagered. Admittedly I think the bet with Caligasatia is quite safe given that the Crusaders practically are the ABs and they weren’t exactly impressive the other night were they?

                          we'll play rain or shine
                          You just completely lost the SH lads Bearcat. The slightest drop of rain and they take their ball home normally. Or whinge about the fact the stadium should have a roof.

                          I'm a little worried about the game
                          I’m sure you’ll correct this by kick off. It’s fatal to start a game with such doubts. Respect your opponent, then stand on him.

                          A very entertaining national breakdown from Finbar there. I can’t entirely agree – I think England blow teams away then simply avoid possible injury afterwards Note however that he included Australia. This, amongst many other things, proves how atypically Australian Finbar actually is.

                          The guy with the bet not yet paid up to me Finbar – has also not long come back from South Africa with the barmy army. He says there were very few Aussies kicking about and that the Boks were very worried after England and they went out because stadiums were then quarter full.

                          He told a few good stories too. Some choice heckling of the Aussie fielders by the Barmies – not something they are used to apparently (having the status of gods in Aus?)

                          I particularly liked the story of the Eng-Aus game where the entire ground (the Boks were not neutral there) joined the Barmies in a rendtition of “get your ***** starts off our flag” – a nice little reverse of the tune I heard down under once or twice.

                          He’ll be paying the bet tonight – I’ll make sure he knows you are next in line.

                            Moi! You've wagered 50x2 = 100 thus far, meaning you have 6.5 - note the decimal point! - left in your account.

                            They were better tonight. They were made to look ordinary by a stunning Blues performance. Whether or not the Blues can sustain it is another matter. If Carlos Spencer goes off the boil, so might the Blues.

                            The guy with the bet not yet paid up to me Finbar ? has also not long come back from South Africa with the barmy army.
                            Much is now explained.

                            Presumably the England cricketers were singing along and generally farting around too judging by the way they let Australia off the hook.

                              Brumbies 37 -d- Stormers 22

                              Patches of the Brumbies of old - stunning coordination and backline movement with lots of line-breaking - but still far too many unforced errors. It was good to see Pat Howard calling shots beautifully in the middle of it all. Joe Roff looks to be getting back to his very, very best with 3 classic Roff tries, which augers well for the WRC. See you later, Wendell. Can anyone see him getting a jumper in front of a fit Roff and Tune?

                              It was also good to see young Matt Giteau - he who debuted for the Wallabies very late in the England game at Twickenham and let himself down badly with nerves - doing very well filling in for Larkham at 5/8. He passed well, stepped beautifully, shows tons of guts, and has a future.

                              It was just a pity the Brumbies scored two of their tries late in the second half while Stormer Greff was ludicrously yellow-carded - this forum, BTW, is the only place I would ever employ that noun as a verb! - for a supposed high tackle. The tackle was always clearly on or below the point of the shoulder. Being one man down might have contributed to them letting in the first of the two tries, but not the second. The point is, it was appalling judgement by both the ref and the linesman.

                                I won't post this week-end as I am leaving Toulouse for the countryside around 5.00 pm.
