    That's what I figured.

The more spread out a city is the less it'll screw up the air quality of the region because the pollutants won't be as concentrated...

Asher, put it to you this way, Atanta's congestion is similar to LA's.

Atlanta, the city itself, is very congested. The suburbs are spread out, but since when did this measure speak about the suburbs?

I also think you're being extremely silly by bickering about it, it never specifically said that was why it ranked so high.

It said that's "mainly" why North American cities placed well, listed the North American cities near the top, and you're somehow drawing a conclusion that the study thought Atlanta wasn't congested.

God, Imran. Stop grasping at straws and admit that you originally read the sentence wrong. I do it too sometimes...

I didn't read the sentance wrong. I think the sentance IS wrong. There is a difference .

I know that rent is SF is very high right now. I don't see how the living standard could be so high there. You can get a higher paying job but your rent will be so high that you will not live well at all.

I've been to many if not most of the cities listed, and there isn't one of them that can stand up to living in a smaller city as far as I am concerned. Our pollution isn't bad at all, and I can walk out my front door heading West and there are miles and miles of wilderness. Or I can stop at the street, catch a bus and be downtown in 5 minutes, and to Denver in 45. I don't like big cities nearly enough to live in one. Hell, I don't even visit one all that often, except to visit friends.

I've always said that I would not like to live in London. I like the city, but as a place to live, no...

Air quality isn't only related to traffic conditions, but also to geographic conditions. Athens is extremely polluted (the worst European city in this regard according to the survey) notably because it is surrounded by hills, which is a dreadful combination with traffic jams.

I've yet to see any traffic jam in Stuttgart, yet the air quality isn't great, also because Stuttgart is surrounded by hills. I don't know if Atlanta is surrounded by plains or not, but I guess the surrounding and wind exposure explain why the air quality is so high there.

AH! This study again! The one that rates cities for how good they are for expatriate workers and not really rating them on which are best in general.

Please, notice that this list is entirely made up of opinions. Yes, no facts. Just opinions; the funny thing is reasonable people can have totally different opinions and still both be right. It just depends on how they want to weight things.

Isn't the environmental list based predominantely on air quality readings?
