Well I know sometimes airports aren't considered national soil for all purposes (i.e. you don't need a visa to change planes.) Maybe there is a loophole there that they are exploiting.

I'm pretty sure that all parts of US airports are considered to be on US soil as far as jurisdiction for police and applicability of constitutional law is concerned. Again, I'm not a lawyer, but AFAIK sovereignty of some country has to apply (for instance, in Gitmo Cuban sovereignty applies)...

I think those are exceptions especially written in for sections of the airport, but AFAIK it's still US sovereign territory.

The example I was thinking about for airports having special legal standing also had to do with immigration requirements etc.

It was part of the Anti-FOPG clause. That's the only part of the law anyone supports.

What a sad state of affairs the US has become...

A man is handcuffed without having committed a crime, without having a warrant for him and without being charged with anything.

And what you can come up with is "humour".

                        Anyway, your country, your problem.
Better change your national anthem though.

what should be noted is that this man was given a visa in order to travel. he was arrested the moment he got off the plane from Athens. surely you dont think someone with connections to terrorism got a visa to the US by accident....
