What news? CNN? Must be, they've been stuck on two topics for weeks....

NK won't attack anyone. They are raising a stink to gain attention, and it is working. Negotiations will be held (the US will not attack a foe seriously capable of striking back) and they will be bought off again.

If they could feed their people they would be a much more credible and serious threat.

I just bet there are plans, for any contingency.

What's amazing is RNK is starving, can't build a road, yet want to even consider things like this.

I hope north korea attacks us... finally we'll be able to unify Korea under a democratic government, and at the same time teach a lesson to the other pathetic rogue states.

DPRK gets now all its income from exporting arms and blackmailing, doesn't it?

I heard similar stories on NPR, Fox and ABC. NK says it will be all out war if we attack their nuclear facilities. Then they added that the U.S. is not the only one who can launch a pre-emptive war.

They don't have the missile range to dump a nuke onto U.S. territory...but they might by able to smuggle one on board a ship & park it in L.A. harbor.

Pretty much, and this is more of the same.

Now, IF GWB were to make it clear that come hell or high water the regime in NK is to be changed then we would have different dynamics.

Despite David Frum's 'axis of evil' bit this is not US intention for NK (see my earlier post). The axis rhetoric was along the same lines as wanting Bin Laden 'dead or alive'. Rhetoric for domestic consumption, but not really meaningful (when was the last time GWB even mentioned Bin Laden?).

That's exactly when they consider things like this,
When the country is just about to form a lynch mob
to hang it's own government. Start a war and it's
                        "rally around the flag".

Same thing happened when Argentina invaded the
                        Falklands.

Heh. If they really want to screw with everybody, park that boat in Tokyo harbor.

The soviet union or the US et al. could have used nukes a million times during the cold war but they didn't, go figure out why.
