L.A. Confidential was another movie like this, where there are no likable characters. So what's wrong with that?

Haven't seen Chicago, but how about Exley? Wasn't he likable? Well, I liked him, at least.
    All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

Ned, life isn't black and white.

Exley is a manipulative ***hole opportunist. And in the book...

        Spoiler:

He was a coward during the war and his war hero status is bogus and he lets Dudley Smith off the hook at the end.

        Edit: bad grammar

Of course, Boris. It is a parody. Everybody is sooooo evil as to be laughable.

I just didn't find it amuzing. Neither did my wife.

I didnt watch it yet, but isnt it supposed to be about mob psychology?

Typical good-triumphing-in-the-end-and-everything-is-fine-and-dandy makes me sick either. I'd rather take bad guy win over anyday.

No, it's a silly musical about a woman who shoots her abusive husband (or is it boyfriend?) dead and then gets a slick attorney to get her off, and in the process he makes her a media celebrity.

It's harmless, not at all pretending to be serious. It has some really catchy numbers, too. And no, the characters aren't all evil. Ned seems to be exaggerating that point.

Now that you mention it, as I think back on it, the film really is alot about mob psychology.

I wasn't the only one - noone else laughed during our performance.

I haven't read any reviews of the movie yet. Let's see what they have to say about the "humor."

It's gotten rave reviews so far:

Most of the negative reviews are comparing badly to the stage musical, which is the exact same story!

I like mob psych movies, so I dunno if I will like it or not. My friends said they loved it, but thats coming from the guys who have no taste at all in movies... but we'll see. If it does any good job of portraying the retardedness of how social psychology works,

You could not pay me to see Chicago.

Okay, you could, but it'd need to cover the cost of therapy afterwards and then some.

Oh, I think it does. They manage to? well I don't want to give away any spoilers.

I mistook your "mob" to mean the crime one... oops!

Yeah, it is sorta about mob psych, but not on anything but a superficial level.

The plot is really there just to bring along the musical numbers. Complaining that the characters are somehow all unlikeable is missing the point. They're there to sing and dance, dammit.
