Having been a musician on and off for about twenty years, I understand how these organizations work. I don't need to use their web sites as a source, I've had personal dealings with this type of organization. Like I said, I'm a member of the Canadian version of Teosto, called SOCAN. I've even made money from it in the past.

I suggest that before people start ranting and raving on this thread, that they take the time to understand exactly what these organizations do, and how they differ from the RIAA.

Sounds good. Did I mention that by reading this post you must pay me a royalty? Didn't know about it, well too bad. You've read the post so now you must pay. Send $10 to BustaMike for the initial viewing of this post and $1 for each additional read.

My post was supposed to be funny. By asking for money for reading my post I was poking fun at Teosto trying to get little kids to have to pay for singing along. This is called sarcasm. People will often use sarcasm in ways similar to this in order to emphasize why something is silly or dumb.

And where the hell is my $10 Willem?

They're definitely taking things to the extreme. Especially when you consider that most church music has been in the public domain for years, decades even.
