DuncanK, the confession isn't any good. None of his lawyers up to now (and he's had many) will put this guy on the stand because it is so obvious he's lying.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

We will never know if he is guilty or not. Our system has shown itself to be corrupt time and time again through out history when it comes to things like this.

I'm sure this will sound crazy to some of you, but since he is a political leader he is even more deserving of absolute proof of his guilt, and certainly there is no absolute proof. And certainly he should not be put to death. He is a political voice and putting him to death would be an attempt to silence that voice. If he is put to death it will be yet another scare on our nation for silencing political dissadents.

It has nothing to do with journalism, it's about his rampant dishonesty. He published a book and claimed that he was a Peabody Award winner. This is one of the most prestigious of literary awards. He never won a Peabody award, was never even seriously considered for one. It was a blatant lie. Yet you trust his protestations of innocence?

There is zero substantiation he was even a journalist. Nobody can find any articles he wrote pre-1981. Isn't that odd?

                He's a liar.

Oerdin, don't worry, Duncan seems to like to paint his picture of his opponents in debate as wide eyed idealists that'll believe everything the right says.

Just give the man a fair trial and be done with it.

It did go up and down the Appeals route and those courts did not think the trial judge abused his discretion.

since he is a political leader

since when?! He was a self-proclaimed 'political leader' after this whole thing spun out of control.

                      Fry Mumia, Fry!

Yes and no. If the appelate courts didn't think something was hinky this couldn't have gone on for 20 years. Sabo was ordered to hear new evidence repeatedly and ultimately forced out of his position. Sabo, a former cop, had it in for Jamal. I think he would have had a new trial if Pensylvania didn't have judical rules which allows judges to oversee hearings to decide if they granted a fair trial over their own trials. I also think he would have been found guilty and sentenced to life given the mitgating factors of his brother's beating and the fact that Faulkner shot Jamal first.

Actually death row appeals going on for 20 years is nothing striking, che. They tend to spend around that much time normally going up and down and back up and sometimes back down, etc.

And it is kinda hard to get a fair trial now, with all the publication about the case. Everyone knows about it now and is biased in one way or the other.

Well I wont vote for him if he runs for office, but I wont support putting him to death either.

Neither will I--I wouldn't for anyone--but I fully support a long prison term for him, because I think he's very guilty. He is not, as he protests, innocent, nor is he the victim of some massive racist conspiracy.

Conspiracy.... probably not, but those responsible for establishing his guilt may very well be racist. If you want to look at the overall system as a racist conspiracy then maybe it is. I just think it is what it is. It works the way it works.
