Very true indeed. This idea mainly came from reading Neutronium Alchemist by Peter F Hamilton, and he gets around many of the drawbacks by routing the "neural net" through a sentient supercomputer (the habitat), which can censor negative broadcasts. The AI was also brought up to be honorable.

Implemented properly, it has a lot of potential.

I'm going to be very humble here and just request one of those Goa'uld hand weapons from Stargate SG-1. Stylish, eyecatching, and with a gesture I can send people flying backwards or shatter all the bones in their body.

With additional ability to make my eyes glow when angry please.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

          Longevity Vaccine.

Of course I plan to live forever...but a thousand years will do. Even five hundred would be nice.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Don't knock being a brain in the car. As long as I could have complete control over lots of devices and nanotechnology and stuff and the ability to expand my mental capacity boundlessly, I would be quite happy

                          72+ hours isn't enough?

Of course, one can't think all the clearly at that point.

To be president of the US (so I could have control of all those nuclear weapons...), but that will never happen, since I don't have millions of dollars or a powerful father.

You guys don't want much, do you?

                                Why not just answer "everything"?
