Re: What the hell is wrong with the Germans?

Well, they invade France a lot ... erm, sorry, you asked whats wrong with them ... Nevermind.

The German constitution (or whatever document they use instead) was changed after the second WW. What Americans may call free speech is far more restricted - and not only in relation to the holocaust/swastika but in other areas as well. What might simply be called hate-mongering elsewhere is often a punishable offence...

Yup, that's why more often than not I choose to buy outside of Germany. I think it's kind of silly but in games that have to do with WWII there are no nazi symbols in the german versions as they rae outlawed too ! Talking about freedom of expression...

I'd better start choosing my words more carefully...

Hopefully the European Court of Humans rights will put a stop to this.

And it's obvious the comment was meant sarcastically, he called the perpetrators of 9/11 'murderers'.

I want to hear how this all ends, how shameful of them to even accuse

Doesn't prove a thing, I'm afraid . If you think it does, you have wrong definition of the word in your head. I can't believe this is the second time I'm whining about this

There's a simple answer to this as a few have indicated here.

Germans are ashamed to be Germans even today. I have asked Germans where they come from and they are VERY reluctant to tell me.

Germany has a genocide complex. DUH.

Hum So torturing a german would be asking him about his heritage over and over again.

I'm confused by this. Surely the Germans have no jurisdiction over the events in New York, so does it really count as a 'criminal act' as far as the German courts are concerned? Is it enough that it is a 'criminal act' in another country?

If it does, would they prosecute someone for criticising Saddam Hussein, because surely that is a 'criminal act' in Iraq.....

Nice how you got your balls in a twist. The guy was, of course, acquitted.

Das Gericht verwarf die Anschuldigung, der Angeklagte habe billigend in Kauf genommen, dass seine Äußerungen in einem Telepolis-Forum als Zustimmung zu Terroranschlägen interpretiert werden könnten.

Someone's been crapping into the prosecutor's head to even push this. Well, at least he wised up during the trial and ended pleading for acquittal, too.

An act in another country that would constitute a crime under german law. So 9/11 yes, pissing off Hussy no.
“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

Despite prior attempts and current socio-economic diplomatic efforts via the EU, Germany != Europe.

Don't forget that blood and human dismemberment is prohibited in video games in Germany. More of that 'glorification of a criminal act' business I suppose.
