Finally gave in to my inner-child and bought myself and expensive toy. I persuaded myself using such arguements as: 'It'll be good to use in lectures' and 'You can do Uni work more often as you'll always have the necassary equipment'. Though that didn't stop me buying a machine that was geared for gaming
I decided to not go with Athlon this time as they seem to run pretty damn hot, plus while I was shopping around I found a 2.53 GHz P4 for £1100

It's a great little system. It's matched my 2100+ Athlon desktop in performance, but it still can't beat my trusty GeForce 3 in any becnhmarking test
