New Laptop: I joined the darkside!

Finally gave in to my inner-child and bought myself and expensive toy. I persuaded myself using such arguements as: 'It'll be good to use in lectures' and 'You can do Uni work more often as you'll always have the necassary equipment'. Though that didn't stop me buying a machine that was geared for gaming

I decided to not go with Athlon this time as they seem to run pretty damn hot, plus while I was shopping around I found a 2.53 GHz P4 for £1100

Here are the vital stats:

P4 2.53 GHz
512mb RAM
40GB HD
GeForce 4 Go (440 - 64MB)
15.1" TFT

It's a great little system. It's matched my 2100+ Athlon desktop in performance, but it still can't beat my trusty GeForce 3 in any becnhmarking test

So Asher, you win. I finally went to Intel.

Actually I don't know much about mobile computing. Do Mobile Athlon CPU's run as hot as their desktop counterpart? I know our P4 downstairs runs at 29oC but this little bugger runs a little hotter

It'd be funniest if it was Unreal Tournament 2003 ..... shouts of "Eat that *****" and "OWNAGE!" coming from the back of the lecture theatre would be priceless.

Only problem with using a desktop processor is it eats power. Though I can't complain, for the same price I'd only be able to get a mobile 1800+ Athlon.
