    End is Forever:

My own world? It's called Philadelphia. And you know damn well a ridiculous number of people copy our styles.

You've got a very insular outlook, Albert. You seem to think that if you don't believe it, or you can't see it, then it isn't right and it doesn't happen...

Garage rock: The Strokes, the Hives, the Vines, etc, etc.

Emo: short for 'emotional'. Weezer. Kids with thick glasses and floppy hair. Depression is cool. They like nerdy **** like 'intelligent dance music'.

Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg: Two writers from the 50's who started the Beat Generation (a bunch of slacker-intellectual-bohemian poets) who have been popular reads amongst the youngin's around here.

          There yah go...

            End:

I am told that sometimes but I have never really been out of Philly before so I don't know about other places. I have no idea what all that emo **** Hobbes was talking about is.

Weezer aren't really emo. Rivers Cuomo might have had the emo look at one point but you could probably have used a better example. Most emo bands don't look emo at all...

I heard of Weezer... yeah I hate that kind of suburban **** where they think talking about wanting to commit suicide is somehow deep... thats garbage

I still don't know what garage rock is... and why are those beginnings of the liberal bourgeious slavery class want to be poets Ginsberg and Keroac popular?

I just realised I'm digging myself into a huge hole trying to describe what an "emo" band is.

Well, Ginsberg and Kerouac were adventurers, anarchists (well not Kerouac, he was kinda square) and intellectuals. They partied, played music, hitch-hiked across the country, did pretty well with the ladies, and I think kids where I live want that kind of freedom.

If that was true, Britney Spears would be flawless music.

I merely hold the opinion that music does not suck because it is popular, in fact many great songs became incredibly popular and are incredible songs (see "Smooth").

And I have no idea what you think a frat boy is, but obviously you need to reevaluate your definition.

Of course we could add a new option, (c) I like obscure music and talk about it incessantly on Apolyton even though no one knows what the hell I'm talking about because it gives me a sense of superiority in at least one field.

I mean, African drum music, Snapcase?

                            great thread

Great example would be when Lifehouse debuted. I heard their stuff long before it first aired on the radio, and liked it. I told people "hey, Lifehouse is a cool band, check 'em out" and they'd give a listen and toss it or not care at all....so I went on my way...2 months later it's on the radio and everyone is talking about Lifehouse...no biggie...I say "hey, yeah these are the guys I told you about" and they don't remember Then their song plays every hour on the radio and everyone makes it 'their song' and now I hate the ****ing band with a passion

I hate the teenie boppers and potheads that ruined Dave Matthews Band

I hate the teenie boppers who think Our Lady Peace is Life and Somewhere out there

I hate the teenie boppers who will ruin Howie Day.

I really don't care what kind of fanbase my favorites bands have, I just care if I like the music or not

I also intentionally don't listen to the radio often at all, since I can't stand songs being overplayed.
