If I like it, then I like it. If it gets popular, so what?

I guess it depends really. I loved Jurassic Park, and I loved the movie too. However, the movie became ultra popular, so to make more money, Michael Crichton wrote a second book for a second movie. If someone sells out just to make more money, then it can be a downer...

In his defense, the book was a hell of a lot better than the movie which butchered it beyond recognition.

Actually, I'm still a Titanic buff, I just make it clear the movie was a crapfest.

Isn't disliking something that becomes popular out of antipathy for popular opinion no different in terms of shallowness than liking something just because it is popular?

Either way, it seems to me that the interest/lack thereof was merely for the purporses of defying/accepting conventionality rather than actually enjoying it.

The stuff I put on my list is stuff that I disliked anyways, but have turned to bitter hatred due to popularity.

Why would you have a dislike for the Titanic before the movie came out? Not being interested in it I can understand, but actively disliking the subject matter...?

I was a fan of Dragon Ball Z back in middle school until it became popular and oversaturated in modern times.

Because the Titanic itself has always been a sort of pop-culture worship topic. Big deal, the ship sank. And a whole bunch of rich people and then-celebrities died. So many people think the Titanic was a very important historical event. Bah... there are so many more important things in history... you almost never hear about how the Japanese massacred the Chinese during the 30's, for instance, or how the Turks massacred the Armenians...

The amount of effort and money put in to this Titanic legend worship sickens me.

And when the movie came out, it only got worse... then having to hear about "oh Titanic is the highest grossing movie ever, it's the greatest movie of all time"... PLEASE... Leonardo DiCrapio is a terrible actor...

Actually DiCaprio has decent chops. Titanic was disastrous for his rep as an actor tho. The part made him easy to despise. Kind of curious whether his new movie will be any good.

I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Its as pathetic to stop liking something just because it becomes popular as it is to like it just because it is popular.

Well most people don't dislike it because it becomes popular, but because when it does become popular, it gets BUTCHERED. Usually when bands become popular, they sell out, and when books become popular it is because they get turned into movies!
