  • poly's political compass

after the picture-thread, the insanity-test and a lot of other community-questionings, here's a new one:

A typology of political opinions plotted on 2 dimensions: economic and social.

credits to KoalaBear33 for this link

    about the poll:
    there are 2 dimensions:
    > the classical left - right (left, centred, right wing)
    > libertarian - authoritarian (libertarian, middle, authoritarian)

there is some interesting analysis of famous people (thatcher, ghandi, stalin, hitler, etc.)

    have fun!

i'm 0.12 (so basicly centre) and -4.87 (so clearly libertarian).

for politics i'm slightly left, while at economics i'm a bit more right (comes from my economics+computer science study ).

Holy cow, -7.69, -7.75. I never thought I was an extremist.

All the british politicians are suprisingly on the right and authoritarian. A little confusing since I thought it was a basically socialist demo but I don't know anything, any brits have anything to say? I'm afraid to see where the american politicians end up.

I don't think someone can be left-wing and libertarian.

It comes from our Labour PM, Helen Clark. She's certainly centre left, but is much less an authority figure than, say, Blair.

They talk about the libertarian left wing mix on the FAQ page. Its a largely american view that they can't mix supposedly go figure.

There hasn't been socialism in the UK for 25 years and even then it was "soft socialism" Compared to europes left wing parties our government is right wing compared to the US democrats it is left wing.

Really? Shows how different views can be across the pond. I was amazed by your rail system and the universal health care of course. Good to know in some parts of Europe I might not be considered such an extremist.

Let me get you in on a little secret: The poll results will be a lot of left/libertarians, some right/libertarians, and few isolated cases of authoritarianism. This poll has been brought up many times and it clearly is very, very skewed. I mean, even that weird Snapcase poll was more accurate.
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

well some would disagree with my analysis.

BTW how were you amazed about our rail system, you didn't think it was good did you

But could someone please explain what neo-liberalism is?
This space is empty... or is it?

                              Stephanie,

It is indeed possible that there are a lot more libertarians here than authoritarians.
