Let the comparisons between gay men and goats begin...

Also children with emotional or physical dificulties, and quite often, minority children. (Although with the latter, it is often the fault of the system which insists that minority children be placed with couples of the same minority.)
The true nature of a man is shown by what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Well as has been said previously, physical abusers would be eliminated by the screening process for adoption.
The Journal of the American Medical Association reports that “people with same-sex sexual behavior are at greater risk for psychiatric disorders” — including bipolar, obsessive-compulsive, and anxiety disorders, major depression, and substance abuse.
Ask yourself why! Could it be because of abuse when coming out or how gays may have been treated by their family, friends and peers? Think a little bit Stew...
The Medical Institute of Sexual Health reports: “Homosexual men are at significantly increased risk of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, anal cancer, gonorrhea and gastrointestinal infections as a result of their sexual practices. Women who have sex with women are at significantly increased risk of bacterial vaginosis, breast cancer and ovarian cancer than are heterosexual women.” (Executive Summary, “Health Implications Associated with Homosexuality,” 1999) (NOTE, this makes their expected lifespans shorter)
Safe sex? Those who don't practice it, regardless of sexuality, are at higher risk. And wouldn't a gay couple at the point of adopting be monogamous anyway?
The Institute reports that “significantly higher percentages of homosexual men and women abuse drugs, alcohol and tobacco than do heterosexuals.”
Rehash of a previous point.
Associated Press reported last June that a “new study by two University of Southern California sociologists says children with lesbian or gay parents … are probably more likely to explore homosexual activity themselves … (and) grow up to be more open to homoerotic relations.” [emphasis added]
Is there a problem with exploration? Don't knock it until you've tried it to coin an expression. Is being more open about their sexuality a bad thing? In my opinion it is far superior to closed minded bigotry.
The rest look like rehashes too, I'm not going into them all. But what is your problem with these things Stew? You still haven't put together why a stable homosexual couple couldn't raise a child!

Maybe people who are "bigots" simply have a larger amygdala (look it up if you don't know what it is). Or perhaps they simply have different beliefs than you. Maybe you are bigoted against people who don't accept that everyone and everything are equal. Whatever, I don't care.
I never said that a possible homosexual birth defect had anything to do with intelligence. I think that if Turing would have recieved the proper balance of hormones in the womb he simply would have been a straight genius rather than a gay genius.
Yet if we don't reproduce, there will be no one left to sit and ***** on a computer . Maybe homosexuality is designed to control population, or maybe it has something to do with natural selection. I don't know. However, from a species survival standpoint our main goal in life is to reproduce.
If you're going to assume you can patronise me with your sad reference to 'looking up' what the amygdala is, then you're even more ignorant than I already believe you to be. You start off with the assumption that homosexuality is a defect, and proceed from there- assuming that we exist simply to reproduce. Are we mayflies then? I thought we exercised conscious choice, even in heterosexual couples, or as heterosexual individuals- Jane Austen had no children, so is she a great big evolutionary failure?
As for Boddington's sad survey of statistics, 'medical' and otherwise- any quotes from the N.S.P.C.C. on the abuse of children by heterosexual couples and individuals? Or unwanted teenage pregnancies?Heterosexuality, in and of itself, doesn't make you a good parent, or responsible. You also blithely ignore the societal aspect of growing up gay or lesbian in societies and cultures (especially Western, Judaeo-Christian and some Muslim) that had, and still have, discriminatory laws, whose sole purpose is to enforce the myth of heterosexual 'superiority' and 'normality'- based on old religious beliefs. The additional stress of having a taboo sexuality and facing rejection and harassment from family, peers and community, go a long way to explaining the overuse of cigarettes and alcohol and other recreational drugs among gay men and lesbians. You might also find that alcohol and cigarette use is proportionally higher among working class communities.
Doubtless, we should stop them reproducing too, in the interests of eugenics and safety.

This board is overall tolerant... we have a few nuts like Boddington... but I post at newsmax... case closed.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

First of all, your first line made me laugh for about 5 minutes. "Who are you to patronize me, peasant? I AM MOLLY BLOOM THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE! ALL SHALL BEND TO THE IRON WILL OF MY DIVINE INTELLECT!"
Why is my amygdala reference so ignorant? There has been solid evidence linking the arousal of the amygdala to people of different races. Might have something to do with racism. But forgive me from having the audacity to mention it, oh wise one.
I never said that the only thing that we are here for is to procreate. I said that reproduction is necessary for the perpetuation of the species. From the perspective of species survival our main goal is to procreate. I do not mean that that is the only overall reason we are here, oh great one. Afterall, we are not animals I for one am not as eager to equate animal behavior to human behavior as you seem to be. (By the way, animal behavior doesn't justify human behavior, chief. Some mammals kill each other fighting over mates, others (even simians!) sometimes kill each other fighting for the social hierarchy. There are even cannibalistic animals! )
If you are so offended that I called Homosexuality a birth defect, then deal with it. I don't care. There is a legitimate school of thought that supports my idea. You can call me any name you want, though I think that you would be unpleasantly surprised at my level of education.
[SUPERFLUOUS HISTORICAL REFERENCE]By the way, Ramses II fathered over 160 children. I don't think that that makes him any better than anyone else. [/SUPERFLUOUS HISTORICAL REFERENCE]
(p.s. I wonder how much some of you people would say to me if we were speaking in person and not typing things thousands of miles apart? I doubt that you would be quite as rude. I think you should chill out, Mr. Ego.)

Yes, I believe Hitler and the KKK follow that same school of thought.
I wonder how much some of you people would say to me if we were speaking in person and not typing things thousands of miles apart?
Well, to be honest I would usually be really quiet in person. But to people like you, I really don't give a damn.
I'd make you my ***** and tell everyone all about it.

I've seen your picture. What are you, about 5 foot 10 160 pounds?

About that, but all that means is I'm more agile than you.
What're you, 5'10 and 360?

Calling homosexuality a birth defect can have no other point but spreading hatred. Honestly, why call homosexuality a birth defect, but not call red hair a birth defect?
How does this serve any purpose at all, other than demeaning gay people?

I'm glad there's not a lot of people like you. Your political ideas, your social ideas...God, you sound like a slightly more tame version of Hitler. Who knows what'd happen if people gave you power.
Were you neglected as a child?

Ramo, a birth mark is also a birth defect. Doesn't mean that people with birth marks are inferior.

As a qualified neuroscientist I'd like to see some references to back up that statement! Furthermore I'd like to know what you meant by the statement that the arousal of the amygdala is linked to people of different races. It doesn't make sense. The amygdala is part of the limbic system, a group of interlinked areas of the brain which seem to be responsible for the mediation of emotion. The amygdala in particular has been linked with rage, aggression, and various "instinctual" behaviors. Every race has an amygdala. I know of no well accepted study showing that races have a difference in the size or structure of their amygdalas. Like I said above the science of neurometrics is fraught with confounding factors. In general you should wait until a finding has been independently confirmed several times before accepting it.
