Let the comparisons between gay men and goats begin...

What if through this research they found a way to eliminate homosexuality? Would anyone here be against it?
I dont think I would be against it, because I reckon being gay must be a hard life (more often than not).
I'd support it if they found a way to eliminate the defect that is responsible for homosexuality, as I would if they had ways to preven any other birth defect. I'm not against eugenics.

Why do you say it is a defect?
One of the main theories right now is that an imbalance of certain hormones during gestation causes deformities in the brain that greatly correlate (might cause) with homosexuality. This study offers further proof. That would make it a birth defect, in my opinion.

Maybe, but I think it is more likely a birth defect. Something that wouldn't have otherwise have happened if not for circumstances in the fetus' development.

No, but if procedures exist that allow a mother to prevent/repair this defect then I think that they should be allowed to perform it.

Exactly. I don't see any reason why parents shouldnt be able to select the best genes for their children.
I suppose homosexuality could be viewed as a defect in a darwinian sort of way in that they cant reproduce without going against their sexual desires or receiving artificial help.
