Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

BTW, you are all pakistanis you know. Or you will be by 2100. A minority. There are no more English (an imrpovement really) while there are Greeks (not something to gloat upon either).

In Eastern Germany the word Kosmonaut is more common. That's because Sigmund Jähn, the first German in space, was called so following the Russian example. Western Germans say Astronaut.

Dry: About the ECU/Euro/Franc stuff: I heard so one time. It was said, that the 2 biggest EU members, France and Germany, can live well with it, as "Franken" was once also the currency of some German province. Whether it was Frankonia (where I live) or another, I don't know. They also said, that this could encourage the Swiss to join the common currency. Personally I care less, how it is called. Both Euro and ECU are ugly, although out of those I clearly prefer Euro.

It's not going to be called frank. It's euro and that's it.

The frank rumours are made up by english with the well known inferiority complex against the French who think the EU eats english babies for breakfast.

                *paiktismanis*

That that would be a REAL improvement

It's true! EU officials have already eaten two of my children! I'll be damned if they're going to get my other kids!

Besides, how can anyone have an inferiority complex against the French?

The english on the whole think they are superior to evveryone (and know I don't think this is a positive trait)

But in the case of the French it is the correct attitiude

That in itself should be reassuring to english parents
