Nah, axe the monarchies, especially our inbreds who still hang on sapping money from the coffers.

And is about time we joined the Euro here...

Well, Harrrison, I agree with that last 100%.
I'm trying to picture all the other European countries being willing to pay Charlie's tab, and on and on.
      I can't do it.

the individual state pays for their own royalty

recently the EU agreed not to let the budget grow anymore (Even after new nations are let in).

What I meant about the money was that rather than each State in the USA having their own currency, the Euro is the same.
The Euro is new and groundbreaking. And totally unlike the US. Here, various countries are using the same currency, same central bank, etc. In the US, various states do that. Only one American state ever was it's own souvereign country (Texas). The Euro is completely unlike the dollar in that, important, regard.

"and not long after, the US was enlarged with Spanish and French colonies. That worked out, did it not?"
I think it had alot to do with the poor communications and low populations of the territories - modern Europe is, needless to say, quite different from post revolutionary America in more ways than one. In fact the whole comparison is rather moot - I suggest Europe make its own history.

This will never work. We just are too different. It will result in endless fighting.. have the same laws? Yeah sure.. we won't have your nazi laws. I like the fact that I can kill 10 people and get jailed only for 12 years.
I like the fact, that it's actually very difficult to get in jail in the first place in here. You can stab people and still you're lucky if you get to go to jail.
We can't agree even in one thing. Yeah, that's democracy okay, but it won't work here. We will fight to the last man standing if you try to unite us! Go Home Euro Commies! We don't want you here!

Only thing we can have is same currency as we have already, and free borders, as we already do. Maybe some joint military stuff, but that's it. Go home.

Ok, I just thought about it. Forget the military stuff. It will never work. We are to different in our mindsets when it comes to military anyway. You are wussies, face it.
UK might be ok, but the rest of you.. go home wussies!

It would be even funnier if it weren't true...

By the way, FT is reporting that Britain put the Kaibash on "United States of Europe". Why so?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Ummm..... Technically speaking the point of the Condederacy was that they considered each state a nation state unto themselves banded in a confederate relationship as long as that relationship was mutually beneficial (i.e. defending themselves from the North). So when Slowhand indicates each Nation state printed their own monies he has a legit point.

USE, no thanx. The US is about the worst model for european integration. Far too centralized, and a quite primitive federal system. We'll just do a new thing - The Constitutional Treaty. Well not 100 % new, but on this scope unprecedented....

"You aren't even to the "Articles of Confederation" yet in your quest for unification."

And yes I'm taking the comment seriously. If you were joking let me know.

You have no idea how we deal with our politicians. Shrub is getting an easy ride from here, in comparison.

because we don't wnat to be run by a corrupt usless organisation that sacks you if you speak out aginst fraud and corruption.

We don't want to subzidise olive grove and tobacco framers, and we don't want you stealing our pension funds.

We like our system of common law.

We agree with free trade and not propping up ailing industries.

We want to be able to not to automatically disagree with the US.
