  • Good work yes, but a couple of questions:

1)How many hostages died during the rescue operation, if any?

2)Were the explosives a bluff, or were the terrorists completely surprised? If wasn't a bluff, then I cannot understand HOW they pulled this off without the theater blowing up....

As long as the reprisal/crackdown on Chechnya itself is rational (I KNOW terrorists aren't rational, don't tell me), then yes it might be necessary, at least in the short term...Sad thing is, you can never eliminate this kind of people, if you give them even a slight reason to keep spawning, which is hard to prevent, I know.

I'm afraid not. The decision about storm was took after terrorists started to execute hostages. As I said yesterday, many news agencies reported that this morning believed to be date of execution of hostages. There was information that terrorist's leaders gave them only three days for this "operation". Some hostages more probably already being killed by terrorists when specnaz entered the theater. No info about casualties among hostages yet. Majority of them in deep shok and even unable to move. Officers carry them to buses.
One of the high ranked officials of minestery of internal affairs just said that 36 terrists, including their leader were killed. Several captured. Suicide bombers were neutralized. Specnaz prevented explosion of building. Majority of explosives installed inside building are disabled. Specialists and robots took care about remaining explosives now.
Unconfirmed info says that no casualties among specnaz.
And here's to a speedy trial for the surviving terrorists, followed by some speedy executions.
To bad Russia can't execute them in accordance with Shahri law (belowed by sonic). There were no single execution in Russia during last several years, because we have maratorium for death warrants. Perhaps, for this case our government make an exception.

No info yet. There willl be casualties among hostages. They started to kill them and hostages made an attempt to escape. How many were killed by terrorists is still unknown.

IT wasn't a bluff. there were two explosions. And it wasn't a surpirse attack. Terrorists started the execution. There were sounds of gun fire and explosions inside building, and group of hostages rying to escape, immedieantly specnaz entered the building to cover up escaping hostages and neutralize terrorists.

I'm just outraged as all people of Russia. There were children, 6-8 years old children among the hostages. Those bastards has nothing holy in their souls.

I do not believe in killing people, they should live to regret their crimes. Put them in the worst "Hell Hole" of a prison you have and give them good medical services so they live a long time. This is much worse rhan dieing.

            • News said that during attack specnz used special sleeping gas. It explains why many hostages were unable to move by themselves. Also I saw video how hostages were evacuated, most of them looks like they are sleeping.
News says that within next hour full list oh hostages being held in theater will be anounced.
Each of kamikadzes carry on them 0.7-2Kg of explosives (throtil (spelling?))

Also officials suggest that probably 1-2 terrorists could managed to escape. Two terrorists wearing civilian clothes were just captured outside of theater.

              • All FSB and police personal was immeaditly evacuated from the theater. The FSB explosives specialists found new bombs within theater and now trying to remove them.
All hostages were already removed. Reporters even made video from inside of the building, showing dead bodies of terrorists. No bodies of hostages were shown.

                • My heart goes out to the dead and wounded hostages. Hats of to Putin.

Now, find the families of the terrorists and retalitate, for each hostage dead kill seven terrorist relatives. For each hostage maimed, maim seven terrorist relatives.

Calculate the cost of the attack and remove seven times that value from the personal belonging of the terrorist relatives, and if they don't have the money take it away from the Islamic community. They are the ones who failed to stop these terrorists before they acted. They are at fault.

                    • The threat of explosion of theater has gone. All FSB and police personal returned to building. Experts also check all car near the theater. There is suspicion that terrrorists could left explosives in cars on which they arrived. There was no opportunity to check it while terrorists controled the building, because car parking is very close to main gates of theater.
The head of Federal Security Service (FSB) Nickolai Patrushev reported to president Putin about end of operation. In accoradnce with his report 34 terrorists were killed and all remeining were captured, that no one escaped. Previously it was said that 1-2 terrorists wearing civilian clothes still could hide outside of the theater.
Also it was said that all foreigners are alive. Still no any data about casualties among hostages. From video I saw, in central room where musical was shown and where later hostages have being held, there are no traces of explosion, serious damage or bodies of hostages, only dead terrorists.

                      • jimmytrick,
                        Please calm down. It's over.
If we would do what you suggest we will become the same barbarians as those "people". It will never happen. We can't punish inocent people, any civilaized country can't allow this.
However the "people" who send those terrorists will be punished. I'm sure. First of all it's "people" who planed this action, the "people" who was terribly proud when they were saying that "soon we'll launch a unique operation". Maskhadov and Basayev. Those and everyone else who is connected to this crime, should be found and punished.
We know who send them, even those terrorists who took hostages admited that they act by order of Maskhadow. However I guess, Maskhadov is just a little fish and real organisers are from outside of my country. But first we must find him.

                              • In accordance with last info, 37 terrorists were eliminated, 30 bombs were disabled. Still no data about casualities among hostages. What they are waiting for?

Also, many meetings in Chechnya to support actions against terrorists. To whom I'm telling this? You will not believe in this anyway.
