And you keep making it sound like the cop was a jerk for pulling you over, and that you were doing nothing wrong.

WAKE UP... YOU WERE SPEEDING... DEAL WITH IT like a man.
For one thing, what is so wrong with dealing with it like a woman? Sexism?

I never denied I sped, my qualm is lack of empathy and an excessive fine. I was passing someone, I don't think that warrents a $300 fine. If I was going that speed steadily, then yes. But I wasn't. I'd glady pay a reduced fine, but 300 is just unreasonible.

I think it's fair to say you should have been a little more careful about preparing to make your exit by getting over earlier. That may have been why the cop didn't care for the excuse, as it's the whole "poor planning on your part does not constitute a problem for me" thing.

So you are saying rich people have the right to speed anywhere they want? They can pay it... so by your logic they have that right. I'm sorry, but I don't believe someone's economic class should be grounds for what is, and isn't right.

Consider it an incentive to actually plan to be in the correct lane before you are right at the exit.

Now he want's empathy for being a law breaker...

In Illinois, you would have been charged with reckless driving and it would have cost you FAR more than $300.

It's not unreasonable... so stop your whining

You're absolutely right. Screw fines, let's do months in prison instead.

                $300 or 3 months -- your pick.

                  I didn't say that...

Let me rephrase it for you so you can undertand what I'm saying and so you don't have to put words in my mouth when you have no clue what I mean

                  • Did you know about the case where the boyfriend broke a lock at a friend's house, because he though his girlfriend was being raped? He got 20 years because technically "breaking and entering" and "burglery" or something like that. That is just stupid. You must always take in account circumstances.

Now he's just egging you on for a response.

However, If I could serve time at minimum wage, I would much rather do that. Because some people have alot more time than money, like myself, I'd rather serve a short sentence. 3 months is extreme, more like three days.

What does that have to do with your case?

                        • and that is relevent how?

are you saying that since you were stupid enough not to plan your own exit from the highway properly that it gives you the right to drive recklessly to make up for your mistake????

                            That's right...

He's the one that asked for it by coming here and posting how he broke the law, made an error in judgement driving by not being able to figure out how to get off a highway at the proper exit, and then whines about how the cop gave him no respect and a ticket, and that the fine was excessive...

What did he expect... our sympathy...

                            • Ming, I'm tired of your stupid comments. I'm not even mad anymore, if I could get you banned I would. But alas you are the one in power, and a prime example of a double standard. Ironically I more sad for you now, realizing that you are a forum moderator, much older than I, and still feel like you have the right to convict and belittle those who are much younger, or don't have the same views as you. It makes me sad that someone who is so much 'wiser', is someone who still hasn't grown up. See you around...

and the local govt taking over the power company, etc... you mean regulate as a monopoly, or take over outright?

                                BTW 1,

I have a good logical explanation for you, and think it fits my idea of "moral" speeding, as I do often.

Once you've got a ticket or two, you will patrol hard for police. Also, when you are speeding excessively, you will find yourself incredibly aware.

I feel that if I get caught speeding by an officer, with roll bars on front and red and blue lights on top, I wasn't paying enough attention to be going that fast, and deserve the ticket. If you are extremely careful, and attentive when you speed, you will not get a ticket, cuz you will see the cop, and be able to break in time.
