MWIA, I think it's usually because, as much as the guy may treat the person like crap, there are enough moments when he can be tender and such that he gives the person those "glimmers of hope" that makes him/her cling to the guy and think they can change them, etc.

Damn my apathy and damn the man.
I've finally got the confidence to get conversations started up, etc. and every girl I talk to has a b/f or fiancee. So, I've decide to concentrate on passing my classes and playing video games all day.I never know their names, But i smile just the same

I'll jump in and say that I'm a life-long nice guy, and haven't been without a girlfriend (or at least a steady roll in the hay) since high school, many many years ago. There's a HUGE advantage to being a nice guy, aside from its inherent moral worth: it's that you're the one standing there when she finally dumps the a**hole and comes to her senses -- and she's SO grateful you are. Nice guy-ism rocks; just don't be a wimp, and you'll be amazed at how desireable you become."I have as much authority as the pope. I just don't have as many people who believe it." — George Carlin

You don't need to be a jerk in order to avoid being a "nice guy." At university I didn't have an ******* reputation, but I didn't have a nice guy reputation either--I had a reputation as somebody who was honest. I wouldn't be malicious to women (like a jerk), but if a woman asked for advice from me or complained about her relationship problems to me then she knew damn well that I wasn't going to lie to her just to make her feel better.
HTML is disabled in signatures

hmm perhaps I am boring. I just think the things I'm passionate about women don't care for. I'm very passionate about american football. But most women don't care for it. Yeah I know some women like it a lot, but they are already taken.
I'm also passionate about beer.
perhaps I need other interests. I'm interested in guy things. I swear this would be easier if I was gay.
Maybe I should take an interest in Oprah and clothing.

in my experience, sadly, yes...
it makes them feel superior, because they can tell their friends what an ******* their b/f is so they look like they deserve better and they get the "you can do so much better" comments
It's done subconsciously of course, but that's what I'm convinced of. Too bad I'm not an *******, or I'd get all the girls."Chegitz, still angry about the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991?

Would it?
I mean. You would have to be really drunk to sleep with a guy.
See and 'guy things' to me used to revolve 100% around getting girls attention
Some of you just dont have it. Even if you dont like there stuff. You act like you do..you will probably never find a woman interested in sitting around all weekend watching football and drinking beer.(duh)
Aye and see me. I was persistant bastard and tryed to persuade the girls to like what i liked. All my girls had to like partying at night. Or when I was younger...I would sit outside and throw acorns and stuff at there windows until they came out or opened the window and threw yelled bad words

Dissident,
Sorry to hear about your problem. My roomate suffers from the same thing. The problem is that they don't look at you in a sexual way, meaning that they don't appreciate your masculinity. The best case is that they treat you like a little brother, worst case is that they think of you as a gay friend (those are called '*** hags' avoid them at all costs). The key isn't treating women badly, its treating them in a way that they think of you as a man. Don't be their good-time buddy, and don't talk about shoes or boys or past relationships with them. I don't know what you look like; I find that small guys and skinny guys have a harder time getting women to respect them than bigger, more muscular guys. Just act like a guy around girls. If you are smaller, try to play off the the pretty boy image (seashell necklace, died tips, etc) If you are going after goth chicks, then I don't know what to tell you. I don't mean to sound like a jerk or a chauvinist, but this is the simplest way to explain how to get a woman. Be a man."The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is to have with them as little political connection as possible... It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world, so far as we are now at liberty to do it." George Washington- September 19, 1796
