(btw not only Nero did some really ****ty things as an emperor you know, the other fellows weren't really 'nice chaps' as well ...it only depends from whose view you're looking)
The only degenerate, instrument playing, egomaniac we have had as president recently is none other than Bill Clinton.

Bush is more like Trajan - who conquered Dacia after endless provocations and broken promises.

Trajan was killed by them too.

But that difference between ancient Rome and modern Washington may be less significant than it looks. After all, America has done plenty of conquering and colonising: it's just that we don't see it that way.

IITC, Trajan died from some illness on his return from conquering Mesopotamia.

          Is my understanding incorrect?

Trajan was killed in an ambush in Moesia, south of Dacia, in ~250AD. He had been there to subdue revolts in Dacia, and so presumed that is who you were refering to.

There was also another Trajan in the first century, not sure what he got upto. By your post something fun in Meospatamia probably.

I presume that was the Trajan you were refering to. (There was more than one)
I think you are referring to Decius who was killed in battle against the Goths.

I was referring to Tajan who died in 117 and was succeded by Hadrian.
