Kaak - yeah, two classes, all kinds of suck right there

Boshko, that Forms of Freedom class sounds pretty cool, sounds like lots of class discussion and such, right?

this might be a good place to ask what does "Professor Emeritus" mean?

Professor Emeritus is a title of honor conferred on a full professor who is no longer in service to a university. The professor may have retired, either for good or to take a different teaching position.

The title is generally given to someone who has continued to make distinguished contributions to his field of study, not just any old guy who quit teaching. Each university has its own regulations, but most require a professor to have taught there for at least ten continuous years. Exceptions are made, and of course there are boards and committees to decide who should get the title.

A Professor Emeritus generally does not serve the university even in a limited function - no committee meetings or administrative duties - but is recognized on all ceremonial occasions, and may march in graduation processions, etc.
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "

                    History of Soviet Union
                    New Testament Studies
                    Some crappy Spanish class
                    Biological Anthropolgy

Thus far, all my classes save the Spanish one have been quite interesting. It's been great fun to debate capitalist pig-dogs in my USSR class, and pea-brained goth/atheist chicks in my New Testament class.

This is also the first semester I have been living with my girlfriend who lives very close to the university. Very fun thus far!

Yup, its going to be a pretty small class. I really feel sorry for anyone who's not a hard core leftist who decides to take it, they'll be horrifically outnumbered

Is this a real question? In case yes: A professor who is retired. (They have usually still the right to participate in the scientific life of their university, to give lectures if they really need to ...)

                        I'll take lectures in:
                        -Biogenetics
                        - Social Psych
                        - Applied Physics
                        - Information Networks
                        - Secrets Of The Human Brain
                        - Nonlinear Mathematics
                        - Centauri Ecology
                        ...

(not necessarily in that order )
Why doing it the easy way if it is possible to do it complicated?

                          "What textbook do you use?"

The "Unfinished Journey" is the main text. We also use "A Rumor of War"(about Vietnam), "The Promised Land"(about African American migration to the North), and "The Lexus and the Olive Tree" (about Globalization) as supplemental texts. It's good to take a course like this I think, since most US history courses never really cover the 1945-2002 era very well

                              David: 2 classes with atleast 80 pages reading a night/class + programming + labs + 2 jobs = suck

Okay, I'll bite. Professors have more seniority and get paid more. There're also Assistant Professors, who are a step below Associate Professors. Some universities also have people like Instructors, who are one step below that (usually with no higher than a Bachelor's degree). Then there are Teacher Assistants, who are usually post-grad students roped into teaching the low level classes. They're usually a step below Instructors in terms of seniority, but it can vary.
