    Deforestation and replanting I bet.

      Disprove it.

      Mismanagement.

I really doubt any amount of replanting effort could increase forest density by 400%...........if were that good at re-growing forests we wouldnt have any problems.

The only way that statistic can POSSIBLY be true, is if it is counting areas NOT threatened by wild fires, which were logged, then re-planted.....in which case 400 1 foot tall saplings read for good stastics, but in reality is misleading.

Now now dino....we don't want to put logic into this argument. It has no place. Who wants to educated on the subject when you can rant and rave without thinking about it and have more fun?

What about beavers? Should they be rounded up and executed? I bet they all voted for Bush.

That's funny, forests survived for millions of years without human management.

This is about the same response I got out of che's thread on the subject: rampant hysteria and little in the way of actual facts. People, consistency isn't always a virtue!

No, but I bet they sent in absentee votes in Florida.

The standard conservative line is that anyone acting in interests larger than themselves -- civil rights advocates, environmentalists, union leaders, social workers, teachers -- must be doing it for cynical political purposes. Since conservatives use government for perpetuating power and grafting personal fortunes, it isn't surprising they accuse everyone of the same moral bankruptcy. They're a cop on the take who excuses himself by claiming "everybody's doing it," and slandering those who actually do their work in a professional, effective manner.

That's correct and we have removed the usual checks on the overgrowth of forests.

DD, maybe that's because Bush and his following don't know sh!t about the environment. Any facts from them would be less valuable than the toilet paper I used to wipe my ass this morning.

I'm looking for fact from you, Sava. Surely that isn't such a hard task given how highly you value your own opinion.

Toilet paper is made from wood too. Switch to corn cob?
Now then you'd have reason to be in a surly mood.

Forest Fires are great fun, I don't know why Bush would want to try and prevent them.

Reducing the forest is bad for the environment.

Totally detsroying it and making it completely in-habitable is much better!!

It's not like we're in a paper shortage and need that lumber. The corporates just want to make more money by lowering their costs.

And DD... I already gave you my proposal and take on the situation. As I understand it, Bush wants to log millions of acres of land. That is unecessary. Manage the underbrush in areas by communities and you will be safe. Logging is not necessary.
