The rain forest bit isn't a Bush solely thing, so you can leave that at the door.

My friend rang me this morning, really angry at Bush's environmental proposals. And he's not even an environmentalist. Bush is becoming one of the most unpopular US leaders in history on this side of the pond.

He should pass Reagan on the worst-president-ever-scale.

Nothing at all, it was a cheap shot. I saw the eopportunity and I took it.

It's not stupid/wrong to do it in moderate amount around communities. Unfortunately, Bush wants to log millions of acres of land, and he's using fire prevention as an excuse.

Do you think all they will do is take the underbrush which is a fire threat? They will log down vast areas of forest claiming "efficiency".......also sets the trend for even more raping of our planet in the future.

No, I don't because Bush proposed more than that. However, hysterical ranting to the contrary, you haven't demonstrated where the proposal is flawed.

                            THE LUMBERJACK SONG

                            BARBER:
                            I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay.
I sleep all night and I work all day.

                            MOUNTIES:
                            He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

                            BARBER:
I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
                            I go to the lavatory.
                            On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

                            MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.

                            BARBER:
I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
                            I put on women's clothing
                            And hang around in bars.

                            MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.

                            He puts on women's clothing
                            And hangs around in bars?!

                            He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

                            BARBER:
I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
                            Suspendies, and a bra.
                            I wish I'd been a girlie,
                            Just like my dear Papa.

                            MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
                            Suspendies, and a bra?!

                            [talking]
What's this? Wants to be a girlie?! Oh, My!
And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter!

                            [singing]
                            He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

                            He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I really don't understand why the term "Raping" is used for this. I mean, who's participating in this involuntary intercourse/sodomy? Can the Earth "feel"? Does the Earth have feelings? Can we even refer to the Earth as something to which human standards can be applied?
