New York pizza is the best in the world, I feel so lucky to be in this city!

Pizza is American, just like the hamburger.

Pizza is Italian. You ever say it is American... I will personally buy a Tank and run into your house with it.

It's like the Chinese and pasta.

Sure, they invented it, but the Italians took it and made it a world-wide food associated with their culture.

Same thing with pizza. The Italians may have invented it (though the Greeks should get partial credit, too), but America took pizza, popularized it and gave it to the rest of the world. It's an American institution.

Uh no, the Italians took pasta and made it good to fit their standards.

The americans on the other hand took pizza and ruined it. It is purely an italian institution and never belonged to the Americans.

And that's different from what I said how?

It is indisputable that pasta was brought to Europe from China by the Italians. They popularized it in the Western world.

Pizza as it is known to most of the world (outside of Italy) isn't the Italian creation, it's the American incarnation.

Anyway, considering your tastes in all other matters, I'm gonna just have to disregard your opinion on what makes good pizza and what doesn't.

It isn't. I was just adding a small point.

No it is not. American pizza = garbage. Sorry but that is the way it is.

Or who makes good pizza. Italians make good pizza, Americans on the other hand... I am sorry but Americans should stick to hamburgers.

Then why did you start the sentence with "Uh no?"

No it is not. American pizza = garbage. Sorry but that is the way it is.
That's your opinion, which you're entitled to, but the fact that American pizza is what became popularized throughout the world is indisputable. That has nothing to do with the quality of the pizza, just the historical fact of how it was spread.

Hmm, I dunno about that...at least in Western nations, noodles are associated most often with spaghetti and other Italian dishes.

Pizza was spread from Italy and made popular from there. People often assoicate pizza with Italy, not America.

Fez: Pizza was confined to Italy (mostly the peasantry) and certain ethnically Italian neighborhoods in American cities until World War 2. After the war, returning G.I.s who had eaten it in Italy wanted to have it in the U.S., and that led to the rise of pizza as an American institution. It became quite popular and you saw the rise of pizzarias all over cities and national pizza chains.

It was after that when pizza spread, in its American form, back to other European countries like France, Britain and Germany, as well as to other regions of the world.

Only recently has true "neopolitan" pizza, which is essentially what NY pizza is, been becoming common in areas outside Italy. Up until a few years ago, such pizza would be confined to "gourmet" Italian restaurants only.

They don't mention provolone on the site at the moment. Depends on what they are pushing in the Fearless Flyer.

I must say I´m dissapointed. When I was in Genua I ate traditional italian pizza. tasted ok, but nothing extraordinary... They make better Italian pizzas in Sweden

Best pizzas are in Rome (where else?)

And pasta was brought to the italians by the greeks. (although this is not known, so I forgive the ignorance).

And there was me thinking Marco Polo brought it back from China, in noodle form.

Seriously though, I thought it was the arabs who brought it to places like Malta and Sicily.
