To be precise, pizza started in ancient Greece. It consisted of flat bread, tomatoes, and cheese.
Eerr, not likely as tomatoes were not introduced in Europe until 1544 (according to medevial botanist Matthiolus). The conquistadores brought them back from Mexico and Peru (where they´d been cultivated for hundreds of years)
And the Egyptians were eating the bread, seasoned with olive oil and native spices as early as 2000 BC. This was apparently to celebrate the birthday of the pharao. The Babylonians, Israelites and the greeks also ate similar bread.

Kamrat--but, like pizza, the Germans may have invented those, but America popularized them for the world.
Which is too bad about hotdogs...bleargh!
Yes, I can agree with hamburgers and hot dogs. But pizza spread in Europe from Italy. Not the US! In Sweden it came via Italian immigrants that came to work in the booming swedish industrial sector in the post WWII period.
It´s likely that pizza spread to the rest of the world from the states though...
Boris, it seems like you are trying to say the US is superior to other countries?
Damn it Q, it is Fez, not fex.... do you know how to spell?

That is ignorant. America refers to Central America, South America and North America and always has.
So Fez if you won't call Citizens of the United States of America Americans that what barely pronouncable circumlocation do you use. USians. United Statesians howabout UnitedstatesiansofNorthamericnottobeconusedwithest adosunidosdemexioians.
We are called Americans because the the name of our nation is just a tad awkward to use.
And most of us ain't bloody Yanks. Thats people from the North East.

Nobody ever believes me when I tell them this, but I've found that Purina's Super Supper for Cats makes a great pizza topping. Just smear it all over the slice of pizza, then stick it in the toaster oven for a few minutes. Yummy.
I don't want to believe you. I don't even want to know how you came up with this. I can't even figure out why cats eat cat food. That you would try this says terrible terrible things about you as a person.

fex, fex, fex... i know it's fez, fex. i'm doing it for purely selfish pleasure. besides, if you wanted to be anal about it, you could insist that i capitalize it properly as Fex...
besides, you put in one too many periods in your ellipsis.
then again, why do you care what i'm saying? i thought you had me on ignore? did something happen to that list? are my posts just that interesting? are my grammar and spelling just too irresistable for you to (incorrectly) lampoon?
======
anyway. it's a commonly accepted practice to refer to natives of the united states of america as americans, whether it's technically correct to do so or not. in fact, a lot of euro derogatory terms (such as "amis", used in germany) refer only to those of the us, not to the rest of the americas... and there's no confusion about the victims of such a slur.
But pizza spread in Europe from Italy. Not the US!
very true. i'm not denying that. but it didn't get popular in asia because of italians-- it got popular because of american influence, which is why the americanized version of pizza is the kind they have there.
Say what you wish, Q Cubex... it is all your opinion.
And I can put in as many ****ing periods as I wish.................... enough?
Enough with nitpicking every little mistake I make. You obviously have no grounds to make such judgement.

you still haven't answered my question: what happened to you ignoring me? fex, fex, fex, fex... will that make you ignore me again?
oh, go ahead, put in all the "****ing periods" you want, i don't really care all that much. i'm only nitpicking you because you tried doing that to me a few threads ago, without any basis whatsoever.
until you provide me with a complete breakdown of why that sentence failed, i'll nitpick all i want. and you can ignore me all you want, that won't stop me from doing it (at least, until i get bored with it... which won't be for a while...).
anyway, what happened to the basic idea of the thread? i'm still waiting your response...
If you continue this I will contact Ming. I am sorry because I hate being the one telling on other people but sometimes these people cross the line.
JUST **** OFF FOR ONCE.

can we all agree that while italy made it popular in the us and in europe, it was america that made it popular in the rest of the world?
I wouldn't know as I have never been in Asia. In Argentina, pizza was made popular by Italians who came here in the early part of the 20th century. Same for Chile.
and can we all agree that within the united states alone, chicago and new york pizzas are pretty much the best?
They probably do make the best there out of all US pizza (but that is only in the US).
