The Euro's next will probably blame Bush for the Black Death, the Spanish Inquisition, and the Holocost.

Probably not. But we can conceivably blame him when the next generation of American children grow up unable to spell "holocaust"...

You're confusing him with Dan Quayle.

Consider the source. A troll that is on a two week vacation to Mingapulco almost as soon as he returned from a previous trip to places best not visisted.

I can't give you a link to that thread either. NYE gave a somewhat cryptic clue about that earlier in the thread. I was a bit less cryptic. There were only about 7 posts on his anti-Civ III rant before Ming found it. I clicked on the email notification again a bit later and it was reported as a non-existent address.

So he won't be telling us his source for at least a fortnight.

                A less direct statement:

the United States must be persuaded to end its profligate use of energy. If we fail, we in Britain may have to get used to getting as wet every summer as the citizens of have Prague this summer

My my, George Bush has more power than I thought. He can change the weather throughout the world and flood Europe with little more than a year in office. Maybe we really are a super power???

This is one reason why many people in the United States do not take the ignorant rantings of some of our more 'enlightened' European brothers seriously. If people want to talk about conservation of energy and protecting our common environment then only a fool would reject that reasonable dialogue. But the constant blaming of George Bush and America in general is simply childish. When the environmental fanatics grow up then maybe we can come up with a reasonable plan that will not destroy the world's economy in the process.

The populace is too reactive. They have been whipped into a frenzy by twisting the words of scientists. If you read any European science journal they state that the populist reaction to gloabl warming is doing more harm than good.

The level of floods are not important, its the amount of rainfall and the regularity of heavy rainfall that would be the better indicator of global climate change. Individual flooding events have many causes and are common natural phenomena.

Over here when it is very hot people say, "see, global warming!" When it is very cold other people say, "See, it is all hype!" The earth has been going through changes for millions of years. The Chicken Little people may have a point but the long term needs to be studied more. Banning spray paint is probably not the answer right now...

There also seems to be a misconception about the general attitude of Americans about the environment. I live in rural, conservative Tennessee and we are very conserned about the environment. We despise clear cutting the forests and people like clean air. I think that some Europeans visit New York or Washington D.C. or listen to a news broadcast and think they are experts on the culture of America.

That's a very silly reaction. Even if we'd immediately cut emissions to zero, there would still be a significant lag time before noticeable effects on the climate would appear...

Global warming may have related but right now this is probably El Niño in action. California will get it this winter.

[SIZE=1] Banning spray paint is probably not the answer right now...
Spray paint contains arrosols, which damage the Ozon Layer. A very important environmental problem, but different from the Green house effect that we are talking about here.

I think we are talking about the highly inefficient use of energy in the USA that causes 25% of all the greenhouse emmisions in the world. If you know that the American people only represent 4% of the people on earth, America is relatively the highest contributor to the Green house effect.

It is well accepted that the effects of the greenhouse effect are: more floods, more draught and an overall change in the climats.

If we combine these 2 facts, we can conclude that Americans have the highest responsibility for the increase of floods all over the world.
