I don't think any of the Germans went over to the SU. The German rocketeers sought out American troops in order to surrender directly to them rather than falling into Soviet hands. From NASA...

However, the first SU rocket was V2-based. So it could be said that the SU and US space efforts were both based on Nazi technology.

I guess it’s true. It would be stupid not to study workable examples, but it says- “to develop their own, more powerful designs.” Which matches with movie I’ve seen. As long as I wouldn’t find good prove that Soviets copied V-2, I don’t see why I should believe that first Soviet rocket was the copy of V-2.
