      • Well, I see an Air Transport company currently under construction there. I also see not enough high tech executives (high tech services require 160 I think).

            • sorry about that Urban Ranger, but it will be a while for I seriously tackle my infrastructures (right now I'm just making small incremental improvements in terms of infrastructure). Without significant educational increases, there won't be enough high-techs employees for building most tech industry. Right now trying to make a really tight economic system that won't collapse when I start seriously building the infrastructure. My country is already out of debt, and my next step is to continue improving state corporatioins quality while getting enough money together to start giving out loans, thus providing a secondary source of income. Once that's done, I'll lower my tax rate enough to pay off my corporate loans, using my subsidies from loans to make up the difference. Then I'll pump back up the tax rate, start ramping up education and efficency big time and building more high-tech industries, using the leftover low end workers to start building an army to conquer my neighboring provinces (although it will undoubtly take a while to get to that point).

In the meantime, Scumlandia Enterprises (my corporation that I'm using mainly to help out my Country, I'm not really interested so much in raising my corps score) has just built a company that sells attack helicopters. If any country is interested in buying, just mail me in the game.

              • You should also try to build up your enterprise. That way you can use it to help, say, buying dying companies and such.

I don't know about loans either it seems the 4% RoI isn't really worth it, unless you have cash out the washoo.

                • Woohoohoo! Broke the 1T mark!

I found that rolling acquisition works well. You start by putting a bid for a good state-owned company in a computer controlled comany. This way you won't get any counter-bids.

Repeat every month. In 4 months you'll start getting a company each month. If you are any good at picking up these companies each one will contribute to your next acquisition.

                        • Why is it that sometimes - in fact, often - when I order an effectivity or Quality upgrade, does it not seem to take effect? I would swear that I have bought at least 1, probably more, of each type for my earliest corporations, and yet several of them report 100 Effectivity and 100 Quality.

                          • Okay, a couple of things. First, plants lose quality over time. Second, it takes a while to have these things installed.

BTW I found that effectivity isn't all that hot. You need the high tech types to run them, so if a country doesn't have enough of them you end up with a lack of workers. Also, you need high tech services, and these are in a chronic shortage right now.

But I found that buying max quality upgrades for the companies each turn does pay.

                            • Ah, ok. I didn't realise they lost quality.

Oh, and I'm taking advantage of the HTS shortage. I have one corp worth 67B in it, one worth 46B, and a few days old one worth 12B already. I'm not even playing very seriously.

                              • Yeah they do. New plants start at 130, but over time they ger worse and worse.

Oh, I almost forgot. You don't always get that 1% increase when you install an upgrade. On the other hand, if you install 2 or 3, you might get a 5% increase. There seems to be some randomness in there.
