Yeah, I'm in White Giant, and I see the glut, but for some reason the company isn't buying.

When I started there was a huge shortage of stone. and now there's a huge surplus. Do the markets always fluctuate this quickly?

OK, I started up Boshkorp (your prime source for quality sand! buy Boshkorp for all your sand needs!) in an NPC country with some surplus cheap labor. What do I do now, I'm a little lost...

Hey, your sand company is in the Commonwealth of Okra una; that's not too far away from where my country is. I'm in the adjoining region to the southwest called Great Palms, country #463--Schiller Republic. Unfortunately my citizens don't have much use for sand. Can't help you out there.

Now that you've set up a corporation, an order has been placed for a production plant. You need that before you can start selling stuff. Once the purchase is made there will be a two month (one day in real time) delay for construction before it's ready. Unless you want to set up some more companies there's not much else left for you to do today. Of course I'm playing as a president so I could be wrong. Maybe wait for some of the CEO players here to show up (e.g., faded).

EDIT: Wow! Perhaps sand is the business to get into. I've reviewed my world market data for July 19, 31, Sep 18, and Oct 13. All dates show a rather large shortage of sand hovering around 20% (i.e., that means that the supply of sand has consistently been around 20% less than demand).

          Sandman,

Maybe the CEO gave up playing. Check his last login time.

          Boshko,

You want to crank out about 6 - 8 corporations. Services is still much in demand.

Is it possible to loan money directly to your state companies?

Following my country going nuts, I've pulled it up a bit now thanks to some nasty spending which has put me in the red, still running a small budget surplus, so everything should turn out ok with that *crosses fingers*

The corp is going great guns, although valued at about bugger all, I've got a service company, which I brought for the princely sum of 2mil E which is now making over 500mil E a month. 20billion debt, but who cares. I'm buying another one of those

OK, so I gotta start up more corps
But now my sand corp needs coal, high tech services, and services. I assume I try to get them at the best price right?

                      Boshko,

Depending on what kind of supplies do you need. For things with a long term surplus such as coal, it is better to arrange for a coal contract if you have a coal mine. Better for the coal mine, that is For other supplies such as services, it's better to hoard (buy huge amounts at best prices) when there is a huge surplus in the market even if you own a services company, so that it can make a huge killing.

                      COckney,

You can't. The biggest markup you can make is 5%. You can't sell stuff dirt cheap to your own companies wither. You should buy supplies yourself because you can save a whole lot $$$.

                      Hagbart,

20B debt is small potatoes. New companies start with that amount of debt for the construction plant and supplies anyway. As long as the company makes money it's fine.

Ok, I'm intrigued. Someone send me an invitation code thingy, and make some suggestions on what I should start with (relatively easy, please).

I think my country's just about toast. I've managed to correct the severe shortage of high tech executives, except that in the meantime all of my companies that employed HT execs collapsed (8 of 'em). Of course when a state company closes the government inherits the debt, so I'm almost maxed-out at 300B E$ in debt and I don't think it can be rolled over anymore. The interest payments alone have eaten a hole in my budget. Next time I'll choose my country more carefully I suppose now that I know how things work.

                                Jules,

It's easier to learn the ropes by starting as a CEO. Maybe you want to do that first.
