        • Not all communists are Marxists, just most of us. All of the early communists were theists of some sort. Look at the Oneida commune or the Mormons, New Harmony in Indiana, etc. US history is full of these commie-Christian experiments. Most of them failed after a few years, however.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Nonsense. You're supposed to do charity and good works but that in no way precludes a belief in the efficency of the capitalist system.

                It's easy, silly.

Mao the father, Mao the son, and Mao the Spirit of Revolution. Mao, Mao, Mao.

                "The time is Mao."

                "Mao more than ever."

The last two are real slogans of the Revolution Communist Party.

That's not what the Pope said.

Also, capitalism isn't all that efficient. It's very productive and it produces quite a bit of profit, but it is also extremely wasteful: of resources, or people, of the environment.

He also condemned Liberation Theology, if we really want to start throwing around Papal quotes.

Perhaps not it's efficency, even I admit capitalism is efficent in some ways. But it does preclude support of the basic pillars of capitalism. Capitalism is based on a foundation of greed and exploitation, if these things didn't exist, capitalism would collapse with fierce frequency. Aggression, swallowing up the weak, that's what makes a good capitalist. Communism is based on a foundation of sharing and brotherhood. And certainly you know what Jesus said about the importance of having a strong foundation.

Here are a few more verses if you don't believe me.

                      Acts 4:32-35

32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.
33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.
34 There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales
35 and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

                      Matthew 19:23-25

23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved

                      1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.

                      Ecclesiastes 5:10
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless

                      Ezekiel 16
48 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD , your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done.
49 " 'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy

                      Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
                      Luke 6:20
Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

                      Luke 6:23
24"But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. 25Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep

                      Luke 12:15
Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

                      I Peter 5:2 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;

                      Matthew 25:40
40 ...'Truly I say to you, What you do to the least of my brethren, you do to Me.'

Time and again, Jesus stresses the need to help out the poor, and to shun wealth. I would go as far as saying the principles of capitalism are totally incompatible with christian beliefs, while communism fits like a glove to God's message.

I urge you Oerdin, and DinoD, to join us today in our crusade against the sins and excesses of capitalism.

                        • It is true that capitalism first flourished in what were typically Christian countries, but Capitalism has triumphed not because of the advance of Christianity but rather because of its decline (as this article even mentions, capitalism first came about during the enlightenment, which was a time civilization began to move away from religion) and because of the advance of social-Darwinism. The market is a jungle and the law of the jungle applies - Aggression and violence, success and winning, swallowing up the weak. These are what makes a successful capitalist. These are values that are completely contrary to Jesus’ teachings.
