Well, you're correct, I don't know as much about Canada and its problems as you do. Tell me, does Canada have as many homeless/poor people as the US? Has Canada had to deal with racism since its existence began? How many race riots has Canada had?

I'm not being sarcastic here Asher. Since I've never been to Canada, everything I know, I've learned from newspapers, magazines, TV, word of mouth, school, and the internet. Educate me... make an impression on my young mind.
To us, it is the BEAST.

The two parties with conservatives in power for the past 5 years at least are Ontario and Alberta, and those are also the only two provinces labeled "have" provinces from the government. These two provinces fund budgets in the other provinces since they aren't as well off.

Asher that is pure turd Alberta has oil and on of the wealthest provinces and a huge homeless poor problem.
ontario has taxes and an even bigger homeless poor problem. The rest have nothing but poor and homeless.
over all the system is wrong not one kid should go hungry while our beloved leaders talk of profits not one.... one top of that nail the poor the aged and the sick with more taxes while giving tax breaks and shelters to the "haves" as you elitist's like to call it.

it is immoral and it is greed give it up people greed kills....

You can express your freedom of speech all you want. But don't feel bad when somebody points out when you're wrong and when you're speaking of about a subject from which you know little about.

I did? If I did, I will apologize to you right now because I am not American.

I am not wrong, as we are talking opinion. You are not wrong either. This is opinion. Not rocket science. I don't know little about the US, so quit making assumptions.

Racism is all but dead in the baby-boomer generation and later. Racists are on the fringe, where they should be. There was a time when most people would be considered racists in modern times. I don't know how things are in the rest of the world, but the incidence of utter idiocy and of racism are closely linked in this nation.

I'm just throwing this out: If one is somehow prevented by an outside force from ever committing sin, is that person necessarily virtuous?

Canada doesn't have to deal with those problems, in generall. Of course there are many homeless and poor people, as well, though, as all capitalist societies will have.

Canada has other problems, such as the alienation in Quebec and Western Canada (Quebec almost left the country in the 90s via vote).

Canada also has a "corrupt' government (69% of Canadians believe it is corrupt, not to mention public scandals), we've got a near newspaper monopoly by CanWest Global, whose owner is buddies with our Prime Minister, who recently fired a few editors who wrote columns criticizing the PM...

Canada may not have the racial tension of the US, but we do have the same diversity.

I see far more homeless people in Winnipeg and Vancouver than Calgary. Maybe I'm missing something? What the hell do I know, I only live here. Where do you live again?

                      C'mon Fez, gimme a hug...

The only part I thought you were wrong is that saying what I was doing was treason. It might be your opinion, or a misinterpretation, but you were wrong.

Even though they are dispicable, I don't think your political beliefs are wrong, per se, just somewhat "morally challenged", but then again, we all have different morals.

Dan, you are quite mistaken. Although the majority of baby boomers and later aren't racist, it still is alive and well. Ironically, I went to the bathroom today at my college after my Art class and there was a swastika inside the stall... go figure...

Racism is very much alive in well, go to a prison if you disagree, or go to the deep South, or listen to Rush Limbaugh.

200,000 Canadians -- men, women and children -- who are homeless.

Indeed, the fastest growing segments among the homeless are young people under age 18 and families with children. A recent task force report indicated that 46 percent of those using Toronto's hostels in 1996 were families and that 5,300 children lived in hostels in that year.

The year before that all Conservative governments accoss the board cut welfare by 25% and since then it has not had one single hike. The numbers some say have quadtripled.....To this extent it was estimated by the U.N. who has investigated Canada and it's treatment of the poor and the sick and the aged and the homeless in Ontario alone 7 times... That in Toronto alone there are several hundred thousand homeless including kids.

Canada has been summonded by the U.N. 5 times I think now to answer to this...

Yet we boast cash and profits...

rest assured that I'll let you know what I think is despicable, damn I'm too tired, I can't spell... We're all on the same lump of rock, hurling through the galaxy, we'd all better talk out our differences and come to some kind of understanding or it'll be a rough ride
