Before you plant any more plants there, dig up the soil and check for any builders rubble, plasterboard in the soil will kill most plants

I'm trying, by any means possible, to encourage your interest in the garden in general and fruit and veg in particular.

Azaleas like filtered sun and well drained soil , feed them with azalea food after they flower and also give them a light prune at the same time . If you can't be stuffed buying azalea food use citrus food , it is almost the same.
I did everything you say last season. They performed reasonably. This year they did better with absolutely no attention. Why?

You got the results of the good treatment last year this year as the plants are healthy and well established .

If you just leave them they will continue to perform well for many years but will end up like Mrs finbars favourite and you will have to do the same thing to them

I've got a trough stuffed with trailing petunias. Despite getting equal sunlight, those at one end of the trough always seem to die. It's south facing in full sun- planted in bedding compost but I can never be bothered to use plant feed.

Hydey's gone to bed to recover from his 10-hour drive. Does the trough have equal drainage at each end?

All I got out of it was

                    a. Hydey knows nothing about Canberra lawns in winter

                    b. How to poison trees with copper nails

                    c. Hydey was badly spoilt as a child and lives on potato chips and icecream.

How about you feed the lawn every 2 months like a good home owner does and actually cut it propperly instead of butchering it and you may find it stays green and lush all year round.
I noticed many happy healthy lawns in your neighbourhood but perhaps the climate in your back yard is different .

Horse could use the fertiliser that comes out of his mouth to feed the lawns

Hydey - Could you please respond to this concerned gardener's plight? If you're going to set up a thread like this and represent yourself as the Battling Gardener's Friend, you have to follow through.
