The biggest blow is the departure of Cem. He and Papandreou have been instumental in at least trying to forge something that could be described as "friendly" relationships with the two countries.
But IMO, no GREAT loss since the final word always rests with the military regime that controls Turkey.
Also Islamism or not same difference.
Of course for the people of turkey i wish democracy. since this is not acheavable (for now?) the military dictatorship is better than islamist regime for them.
For Greece, nothing changes. Both regimes are just as abnoxious, we've lived side by side with both islamist and military turkey.
I would just like to say that Turkey has a lot to gain from friendly relations with Greece. and vice versa.
we could do a lot to help if only the miliary regime and their "aspirations" would go away.
after US divided cyprus things got worse but still we can make it work.
if nothing else, a friendly relation would lead to reucement of military budgets.
the military regime of turkey is insane. the people are starving, the economy has crumbled and it still wont let go of the arms race. even after greece has proposed to also curve its military spending.
thats what happens when a country has no democracy
we have nothing to separate with the turkish people
