I'm starting to get worried about Havak.

I hope so. Unfortunately the All Blacks dont "usually" beat Australia these days.

Glad to see you favor my side though...

Don´t worry, they´ll beat them this time.
BTW, your team is the most famous member of the three nations in Argentina. They have many fans here!!!

Argentinians must be very discerning people.

Your bet has been officially recorded, academia. Yet another AB backer. Leaving me the sole Wallaby backer. Gee, if only I'd known that all I needed to create instant wealth was an internet connection.

                  Betting Update

                  Caligastia 100-40 = 60
                  finbar 100-20 = 80
                  Andydog 100-20 = 80
                  LDiCesares 100-10=90
                  academia 100-10=90

Thus the pool stands at 100 Civ Gold. Mmm. I could buy New Zealand and have enough left over to give them all elocution lessons.

More importantly, though, the potential profits now break down as follows:

If I win, obviously, I take home the 100 Civ Gold.

If I lose, you lot should divvy up as follows:

                  Caligastia 50
                  Andydog 25
                  LDiCesares 12.5
                  academia 12.5

Only 6 hours to kickoff and counting down!

Yep. A week. It is summer up there - as much as they ever get a summer - so he's probably on hols.

I think it's very caring of Argentinians to keep a 3rd World backwater in their minds and hearts.

                        Tamerlin is back

                        Hi,

                        Welcome to the newcomers.

I didn't had the time to read all the posts sent while I was on holydays, it seems that Havak and Finbar had no trouble to fill the space while Caligastia, LDiCesare and I were out.

I won't have the time to read all the posts until monday as the week-end is promising to be very busy.

About Australia-France I'am deeply regretting the fact I have not recorded the game, I would have looked at it again thoroughly to point out Mr Honiss's blunders.
I can say for sure the Australians have not been penalized for jumping over (and far beyond a reasonable distance) almost all the spontaneous scrums and have not been very penalized for entering the mauls and the spontaneous scrums by the side. The referee has not applied the rule stating the ball is changing hand when a scrum is turned. All this is not, in my own opinion, a mere problem of interpretation.

I've read a few articles in the "Midi Olympique" that have bothered me a lot. It seems that some SH officials are looking forward to change the rules of our favorite sport in order to end the fight for the ball (I mean forbidding the forwards to push and win the ball or tire the opposite forwards) in scrums. If they were to succeed a new game would be created that would be something between the XIII and the Rugby but wouldn't be the Rugby game anymore. All this in the name of money and TV rights.
I'am not subject to nightmares but it threatens to become one. Suffice it to say the FFR (the French Rugby Union), and I hope all the five european nations, will not accept it.

                        More on all this monday.

If it's not too late :

30 gold on Australia beating the AB by 3 to 5 points.

Sorry Caligastia but I think the AB have not yet finished their reconstruction though it is rather difficult to have a clear vision of their real strength as they have not played against a major team since a long time now (as far as I can remember).

Give Havak and me a blank sheet and we'll fill it! Though we haven't seen Havak for a week.

It's the first I've heard of any of this. I look forward to you giving us some more detail on Monday. All I have heard is that the IRB is thinking about restricting the number of replacements in Tests to 4. I can't see how that's going to improve the game in the slightest.

If it's not too late :

30 gold on Australia beating the AB by 3 to 5 points.
Okay, Tamerlin, your bet has been recorded. Though we're using a margins system in our betting. Havak - our independent assessor for this match - decided that the Wallabies would start favourites by a 6 point margin. So, if you want to back the Wallabies, they have to win by 6 points or more for you to win the bet. If they win by less than 6 points, you lose the bet. For my sins, I have bet that they will win by 6 points or more.

If you want to back the All Blacks, to win your bet the ABs have to either: (a) lose by less than 6 points; (b) draw the match; or (c) win the match.

Okay? Sounds complicated but it's not really.

Now, you think the Wallabies will win by 3 to 5 points - which is obviously less than 6 - so, under our system, you are, in fact, betting that the All Blacks will lose by less than 6. So, under our system, I've recorded your bet as a bet for the All Blacks.

Sorry Caligastia but I think the AB have not yet finished their reconstruction though it is rather difficult to have a clear vision of their real strength as they have not played against a major team since a long time now (as far as I can remember).
I'm hoping that the Wallabies' recent tough matches against the Maori and French will have been a better preparation than the AB matches against Italy, Ireland and Fiji. I also think the ABs will miss Norm Maxwell. Taine Randell, too, even though he was on the bench. He would have made an impact.

But you've got LDiCesare! Havak doesn't even speak French!

                                Betting Update

                                Caligastia 100-40 = 60
                                finbar 100-20 = 80
                                Andydog 100-20 = 80
                                LDiCesares 100-10= 90
                                academia 100-10= 90
                                Tamerlin 100-30 = 70

Thus the pool stands at 130 Civ Gold. And, as I pointed out to Tamerlin, above, because he thinks the Wallabies will win by 3 - 5 points, his bet is, under our system, a bet for the ABs. Mmm. My wallet is licking its lips.

If I win, obviously, I take home the 130 Civ Gold.

If I lose, you lot should divvy up as follows:

                                Caligastia 47
                                Andydog 24
                                LDiCesares 12
                                academia 12
                                Tamerlin 35

Again, I've rounded the numbers up or down. Anything above .5 went up to the next whole number, anything below .5 went down.

Unless anyone else turns up unexpectedly, the "book" is probably now closed.

A bit over 3 hours to kickoff!
